As has been seen on a previous thread of mine, I accidentally bought myself a non turbo HIS 270x. The difference is boosting to 1050 vs 1140. Obviously I want the faster one. I have contacted newegg, and am awaiting a response. They are the same price with the non turbo being out of stock. Do you think they will help?

Post #13 has the resolution. Nice and easy. 5 stars.

Was it a mistake on their part giving you the non-turbo?

If not, don't get your hopes up, dude.

I'm confused ... did you order the Turbo model & get sent the non-Turbo by mistake?

If not what is it they need to "help" you with?

No, it was a mistake on my part. I am wondering if they will be helpful and understanding or if they will say that I screwed myself. Some people are having great experiences while others are getting screwed. I am still in 30 days though.

If your within 30 days you should be fine on the actual return/exchange however you'll almost certainly need to pay return shipping & maybe a re-stocking fee since the card wasn't defective.

And you've already opened and used the video card?

They will allow you to return it but will charge you shipping/restocking fees.

Once you've opened the box unless its defective I believe a restocking fee applies. If you had not opened it you would only have been on the hook for shipping.

Hi there, I would be happy to look into what we can do for you in this case. As others have noted, most of the time restocking fees do apply to open (non-defective) items, but we always try to look at things on a case-by-case basis.

Would you mind shooting me an e-mail at wecare@newegg.com?

Thanks,

Wow. I am amazed with newegg. They made it a very easy, painless case. After about 4 emails (the delay was me, I ate dinner) I should have it going back and get the other one. I am needing to return it for money but I have a shipping label and it has been easy.
5 stars!

Good for you.

Some of us have not had that treatment

Very nice that they waived the restocking fee!

Oh boy a Newegg thread, time for me to rant a bit.

I ordered an open box monitor from Newegg last Monday. It gets delivered on Thursday, I take it out of the box and notice a big brown discoloration on the screen. I thought "Uh oh, here we go". Well as it turns out I was right - the screen was cracked in multiple places and the monitor was completely DOA.

There was supposed to be two pieces of styrofoam in the box but one of them was missing. Whoever packaged it put the monitor in the box with the screen facing the outer cardboard with a tiny bit of bubble wrap between the two. What did they think would happen?

So I submit an RMA and it asks me to pay for a UPS return shipping label. I call them up and they issue me a pre-paid label with no issues. Kudos to them, very prompt service, wasn't on hold very long at all. I ask the person on the phone if I will get refunded for the ~$9 I paid for shipping when I bought it and was told I wouldn't.

I totally understand there's a risk involved with buying open box. Scratches on the plastic, dead pixels, uneven backlight bleeding, etc. would be expected. I did at least expect a functional product. But for me to eat $9 because they couldn't package it correctly is a bit ridiculous IMO. I think will be calling back soon to ask again.

Was the monitor shipped in the original box? Because it is entirely possible that whoever bought it first and sent it back to Newegg didn't use the original packing. Newegg says they don't test open box items. They probably don't even open the box back up.

Yeah, it was shipped in the original box. Whoever packed it back up didn't put stuff back where it was supposed to go either, it was all haphazardly thrown in there.

It seems like it would be worth opening it to look and see if everything was in one piece at least.
