Yes, I say should be because it doesn't cost $300 to make and design a farking bag, I'm sorry. But to the difference between a $10 bag and a $100 bag can be significant enough to warrant the purchase of the more expensive bag, after that price, you're just paying for bragging rights and nothing else.Originally posted by: ducci

I understand, you SHOULD be paying for a quality difference, but the quality difference between a $100 bag and a $300 bag should be miniscule or even negative (worse quality). I didn't say she needs only a $10 bag, there needs to be compromise, not everything is black and white just like I don't expect people to buy THE CHEAPEST CAR ON THE MARKET, but there is a certain point where 'enough is enough'.Originally posted by: ducci

I think it's funny you don't see that in reality, these people are paying a premium for nothing, much like the idiots that choose to purchase bose products. If there was a discernable level of quality betweent the $100 bag and the $350 bag and that bag wasn't so damned ugly, I wouldn't be having this arguement, trust me, I wouldn't. To be honest, I don't believe there is a difference, there is however between a $300 video card and a $600 video card, but the difference between the two cards isn't going to prevent you from playing a particular game much like the difference between a $100 bag and a $350 bag.
However, the difference between an integrated video card and a $300 video card will basically say what you can play and what you can't play, for the $10 walmart bag and the $100 bag, all I can say is quality, possibly capacity.. You can get a decent looking bag for a $100, but spending $350 much like spending $600 for a video card is just looking for attention, thats all.
Out of curiosity, how many purses have you owned in your lifetime?
I ask, only because your entire argument revolves around the notion that a $10 bag from Target serves the same purpose as a $350 designer bag. Well, you are definitely mistaken.
I used to think like you did until I actually bought my girlfriend an expensive bag for Christmas one year. It was actually a bit more than $350. Anyway, she wanted it and I got it for her, no big deal. She used that thing damn near every day, and took it with her just about everywhere. She beat the crap out of it, and now, maybe 3 years later, it's still around.
While I agree there is a bit of overhead, the price difference is not just for a name - you are paying for quality. If I got her a bag from Target, aside from her thinking I was a cheap bastard, it would have been torn up in a month (I have seen this happen first hand - the strap breaks, the zipper falls off, a pen pokes a hole through it).
So while I am a guy, and I, too, buy video cards and TVs and other expensive gadgets, I understand and can appreciate a quality bag. Now, it's the girls who have 4 or 5 of them and throw them out at the end of the season who bother me.
Oh and BTW, 3 years isn't very long for a purse, tell that to my mom who had her purse for little over 10 years before deciding it was time for another one, and her purse wasn't a cheap $10 purse nor was it a designer $350 purse..
I don't see where you are getting your facts from - "the quality difference between a $100 bag and a $300 bag should be miniscule or even negative (worse quality)." That doesn't even make sense. Should be?
The difference between the video and the bag is that it COSTS at least 90% of what you're paying, that isn't the case with the bag. Sure it could cost $10K for some insanely, ridiculously high end video card and while I'd say it's stupid to buy it, I'm sure there would be someone out there buying it. That said, the video card that costs $10K has a lot more merit than a $10K bag as it CAN'T cost $10K to make that bag unless it was hand crafted by some ****** celebrity or was made from an extinct/rare animal.I wonder, if you bought a $350 video card today, how much would it be worth in 3 years? Would it be able to play all the new games and all of that nonsense?
Right, but I bet you could do the same thing with a $100 bag and get the same life out of it as you would with a $350 bag..Now what about a bag? If maintained it can do the exact same job it the day you bought it years down the line. I would say that it is a far better investment than a video card - both in the long term and short term (my girlfriend got far more use out of the bag than I ever did on a video card).
