Do you think AT&T is going to change its data plan?

Remember how AT&T used to offer lower tier text messaging for selected pricing?

Now they only have one plan for messaging which is unlimited for 20$ i believed.

Do you think they will do the same later on with Data plans or will they keep the 15$ per month data tier?

once LTE is more mature and carriers start to deploying these tiny antennas to replace the existing ones expect costs to drop. just like voice minutes. 10 years ago you got 400 or so minutes and every call used them up. today you get 400 minutes but in-carrier calls are free, nights and weekends are free, roll over, etc.

what did they change long ago?

He said "not too long ago" and I think he's referring to the fact that they went from an unlimited $30 plan to the new $15 for 200MB, $25 for 2GB, $45 for 4GB and tethering not too long ago so it would be weird to change it again so soon.

As far as the original question, I don't think they'll change unless market forces make them change. And I don't see them having any real pressure to change. They need higher prices to pay for the LTE and tower upgrades they are doing.

I don't think we will get unlimited back.

The reason they restricted it was limited bandwidth available. The heavy users were hogging the invisible tubes. When each tower is capable of (LTE-advanced) 1gbps stationary and 100mbps to moving targets, what is bandwidth? It's free.
Then they'll go back to wanting to market unlimited.

This..did Steve Job add new FaceTime to iphone so he knows unlimited data plan will be back someday...and we as deaf people will be able to use FaceTime more often to chat with other deaf people.

Unlimited isn't coming back because carriers don't want it to be coming back. They don't want to be dumb pipes, even if it costs them 1 penny to transmit 1000 gigabytes.

I don't think we will get unlimited back. LTE doesn't solve the problem, it takes the problem up one more level of magnitude, but there's still a limited number of towers, a limited amount of frequency bandwidth, and bandwidth is never free.

Why the hell would any carrier give more for less (compared to what they give now) when people are happily handing over cash hand-over-fist to the carriers for the crappy service they give now?

I'm sure AT&T will change their data plan soon enough... giving you EVEN LESS and making you pay MORE for it.

LTE-advanced, not LTE, solves the problem.

because said people will leave you when they see they can get unlimited at your competitor, who is offering it because it only costs them $0.01 per month anyways so why not just give everyone as much as they want to attract new customers?
