Do you think any of your local rock bands can make it big?

Hey 🙂
I attend a High school with about 4,500 students, and from this there are 30ish rock/garage bands or whatever you call em.
One of which , are well known throughout the school, and well I wanted to share with you, the anandtecher, their latest mp3. Download here.

I know the celloist and the drummer, and I think they can make it. This was their first time recording in a real studio, so tell me what you think. =)

Oh yea, if you know some local bands, please share and post their music or something =)

Heh...Offspring went to my high school freshman year. They played in the quad during lunch and we all thought they sounded stupid 🙂

Blink 182 started about 15 minutes from my house, and look where they are now. We were all really excited in the beginning, but now we can't stand them.

Yeah, Cracker, GWAR, Avail, and Ann Beretta all did. Lamb Of God is trying, Fighting Gravity started to but went to a major label and nobody's heard from them since.

btw that MP3 you posted sounds like a bad System Of A Down cover band or something. :disgust:

dave mathews band played at my college 10 years ago (the schools attendence was less than 1000 students at the time... ) nobody knew who he was and i've heard teachers saying how they remember all the students thought he sucked.

lol so what does all that mean? They have a good chance? hehe

You can see their pic here.

Oh yea, they are called Tokyo Space Cadets.
=/

I don't know if we have the potential to make it big but I do know that I love to play music for people. We are actually doing quite well here in San Diego. Here is a song called Breathe Life.

Back in 1988 this local band from Burlington played in our college cafeteria, our school had about 1200 students, 200 of which were hanging out listening to the band play these really funky, spacey tunes. I never did hear a vacuum machine being played before. I left halfway through to drink beer and do bong hits with my room-mate.
That's my phish story 😉

We had a local band around here for a long time that finally hit it big, a bunch of years ago.

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band

They did the soundtrack for Eddie and the Cruiser movies and had some great hits like

on the dark side
golden years
and a few other national type hits.

my band's first public concert (two years ago):

Portland Memorial Coliseum
800 seats
~900 guests
packed house w/ people against the walls
loud
$600 profit

New Found Glory went to my high school. The lead singer Jordan sat 2 rows over from me in Spanish II 🙂

Hmm...there is one band, "Brokin", that has potential, albeit very small. They may make it as a decent underground punk band but nothing more.
