the title question implies that there's such thing as a standard women's size 4. which there isn't, because women's clothing is never consistent. everyone knows this.

This is the very first time I've ever seen "everyone knows this" where everyone actually DOES know this! It's a moment for Anandtech history.

haha yes! :awe::awe::awe:

i have no idea what a "typical" size 4 is, but if it's anything like the insanely, almost-pole-thin models, then no thanks.

i want a woman! :D

My wife is a size 6 and at 36, 29, 38, she looks like a woman. She doesn't look like a preadolescent and she doesn't look like a marathon runner. She looks like a woman, and I like it. A lot.

I think men everywhere can agree that by and large, the fashion industry doesn't have a goddamn clue what men find attractive

i'm fairly certain that women buy clothing more for other women than men. men generally don't give a rat's ass.

Fashion models arent really the pinnacle of what men find attractive anyway. They are more for women imo.

Swimsuit and lingerie models >>>>>>>> fashion models

I don't really understand who likes fashion models. Gay male fashion designers?

Fashion models need to have a few characteristics, the most important is fitting the clothes which designers build in a certain 'size'.

The idea is to look at the clothes not the model mainly.

You guys have it all wrong. The less curves there are, the easier it is to sew the clothes.

Lazy ass designers.

Wife was a size 6 when we first started dating. She's a size 4 now. Doesn't matter either way, me likey :)
I hate how I need to constantly google search these just to figure out what women sizes mean. It almost looks like we're supposed to add 30 inches to whatever the size is, so 6 would be 36 inches.

I guess that looks pretty normal. I would date a size 6 :D

The woman in this picture claims to be a size 8.

Looks healthy to me.

Size 10:

Stills looks small enough for me to put 1 arm around her waist and have a solid grip.

size 12:

Ok now we're getting into chubby territory. I'll stop here.

I'm talking about the build of the models, which is what this thread is about. Not about the clothes at all

yea and thats the kicker.
she complains about selling the unobtainable.... as if the rest of her were attainable for most women in the first place.
its misplaced feminist nonsense, they are over paid walking mannequins, who gives a f*ck. no ones entitled to such jobs, go flip some burgers and see how fair that is.

It is due to shit like this that anorexia is the leading cause of death in America!

Oh....wait....

As far as the example in the OP, it isn't that she is fat. She is just too fat for the industry. Same thing happened to my aunt when she gained 10-20 pounds.

She probably wasn't that size when they first contracted her, so it isn't any surprise they would be unhappy with her getting larger than expected.

Would anyone even be able to have sex with that? It's such a huge turn off. I can't imagine women wanting to see that either. Who is this fashion show for, exactly? Necrophiliacs?

Is it that size four is a threshold of revolt for those now numb to the industry of obese in every day life?
