I get along great with MOST of my immediate neighbors...except the house-full of "illegal immigrants" who live next door...
We have a pretty adversarial relationship.
There are usually 3 or 4 families living in a 4 bedroom house. Parking in the sub-division is pretty tight, and with so many in one house, they have 6 or more vehicles there.
There have been 3-4 occasions when they've parked in front of my driveway. The first time, I told them to move it...when they didn't, I called the cops and they towed it.
Now, I don't even bother telling them to move it...I just make the call. Sometimes the cop just gives them a ticket for blocking part of the driveway,(if I can still get both cars out without having to move one to get the other out) other times, they call a tow-truck.
The neighbors are finally understanding that parking in front of my driveway isn't acceptable.
We still do battle over their loud "flea-market" music, but the city has given me a new tool for the fight.
Nowadays, IF I'm willing to sign a complaint, the cops are REQUIRED to issue them a ticket that requires a court appearance. One neighbor down the street got one of these tickets, (because of her son's overly loud music) and it cost her $500 and 6 months probation and a suspended 60 day jail sentence...
Haven't gone that far...yet...2 other neighbors HAVE called the cops over that, and they've been ticketed once that I know of...but they still do it.
I don't give a shit what kind of music you listen to...as long as I don't have to listen to it in my house. (they have some mega-boom-box in their garage that they crank up to max loudness, then go in the house for hours...)
Otherwise, ALMOST everyone in the sub-division gets along pretty well. We have 4th of July block parties, several of us have X-Mas parties, group BBQ's, etc.
Oddly enough, the neighbors I mentioned above don't get invited to ANY of them...not even by any of the Hispanic families...
