Do you take people as seriously if thye don't have their profiles enabled? Do you think they are trying to hide something? If I remember correctly it is visible when you sign up, so you'd have to go in and change it. So what do you guys t hink? Do you take a person with a visible profile more seriously than you would a member who has their's hidden?

Note: This thread is just to pass time. :)

edit: Changed question. As I meant it more as a seriousity (not sure that's a word) issue. :)

Surely I don't mind if someone sees where I live and has access to my e-mail address. I mean heck, I'm an individual, I'm not representing my country or anything. I also don't think that by hiding my mail address I seriously protect myself aginst malevolent ananders. It's quite strange for someone to hide his location, if one's scared that much one could simply submit fake info and reg with some free e-mail account made for this sole purpose.

there's like no information in profiles anyway unless you add it.

Why do you need to feel you trust them anyway? Are you looking for friends on here to come hang out with you?

Some people may not want to be tracked or found on google or something by people they know or employers or co-workers or family or something. Probably a lot of reasons for it besides that they must be up to no good.

No need to get defensive, my friend. I just know there are people on here who seem to disregard what a person says, because they have their profile disabled. I was just curious if that was common. Like I said, this thread is mainly to just pass time. :)

At ATOT, it doesn't matter to me, though sometimes I am curious where a poster may live.

However, in FS/FT, if a trader there doesn't have their real name and location in their profile, I won't trade with them. That's just not right.

I disregard anyone's post who lives outside of the US.

I have always had my profile displayed along with my real name and location.
Who knows..I can be sneaky and the name in my profile may not be me. ;)

The only time i have a problem with people hidding their profiles is if they say something like:

"In my area, xyz is legal." etc. Comments like those have no meaning unless the profile is enabled and correct to some degree.

That's pretty much the only reason I look at icons. And I have nothing to hide. :p
