Do you swap cars with your neighbors?

well, my father, bro and I went for a walk around our neighborhood for the first time in 5 years...we haven't met a single neighbor in our neighborhood...

Well, as we walked past this one house, a man said hello...we replied hello back

Well, since my bro and I are into cars, we began chatting about cars

Apparently, he owns a M5 and a 996 (S500 is wifey's car)...so blah blah blah..he is like how the M5 is faster than his 996 and the neighbors F360

I was like how do you know? He responded well, first they raced it before and then they swapped cars for a week...they also swapped cars, the 996 and the other neighbors Viper...

I was like, cool, can I join in? He was like, sure, anytime.

sad thing is, I don't know how to drive stick.

Oh well

Learn to drive stick... FAST! 😀
Mebbe slap a turbo system on your LS400... 😛

BTW, if you're into cars... why the LS400? I would figure SC400...

the Ls400 was hand-me-down

I'm seriously looking into a concept car with my bro...doing a 2JZ-GTE swap + 6 speed tranny into IS300 OR SC300, but I'm afraid of, in the future, crashing the car...

edit: or the cheap way is gettting a Supra TT...but I want a sleeper, and what better than Lexus? Even our neighbor was like, WHAT? a Lexus?

Put the Supra TT engine in the Lexas. That would rock. I don't know if that could be done, they're both Toyota's...

Nothing personal, but it's kind of a shame how this has happened over the years.
Everyone is so busy with their own lives that we don't even know our neighbors any more.

6speed tranny? Forget that... too much trouble, a nice 5speed with a good ratio is good enough fer me. Why so afraid of crashing the car?
I'd like to see a true sleeper... Toyota Camry with a 2JZ 😀 if the chassis doesn't snap like a twig...

Man, LS400s were a dime a dozen in Japan... it really was just another Toyota... 😛 Definitely a very NICE sleeper though.

Dude, we live in this neighborhood that NO ONES talks to one another...everybody's rich...got big houses, nice cars, big pools, basketball courts, gazebos, everything..

Last time I seen my neighbors (I reference neighbors as people living on the street which is about 12 homes) was about 3 days ago, in a Benzo of course...

That is why I rather live in our old home rather in this neighborhood. but it is very very very quiet though...which is cool

edit: My bro REALLY wants to do the LS400 sleeper, but I'm like, ummmm...maybe...

I am afraid of crashing it cuz the first house on the block, their kid TOTALLED his new Camero SS...we say the damage and everything..

the engine swap is rather common for the sc300, as they share the same motor mounts, and basic engine anyway as the tt supra. cars with this swap (sc300's in particular) with modifications, i've seen them hit 11 sec quarter miles, and toast hayabusa's (sp? of japanese superbike) in highway racing.

theoretically, it should fit into the is300 just as easily, but its a bit different. the motor mounts are the same, but the engine bay doesn't quite have enough room without modifications to accept the 2jz.

why a 6 speed? the only 6speed tranny that comes to mind from toyota is the tranny of the celica gts, and it wouldn't fit. unless you are going to get a custom transmision/gearbox done (which would cost about as much as the car+engine swap) its rather pointless.

a camry couldn't accept a 2jz as it is a FF configuration, and the powertrain of the 2jz wouldn't match correctly.

I was looking at Level10 to manufacture the tranny

Powerhouse Racing does all this for $2 0 , 0 0 0!!!!! Modded Engine, 6 speed tranny and swap itself.

Oh yeah, you are right about the space in the IS300...simply won't fit...

Well, the SC300 idea is more appealing now.

Actually I believe that some folks down in Atlanta and Florida have done the 2JZ swap into the IS300... or should I say shoehorned. Don't remember where I read it, but they're supposedly pretty experienced in doing it, and have done it a few times already. Definitely a TIGHT squeeze.

Twin turbos on the LS would probably be the fastest and easiest way to get some massive hp out of it. Though its still a BOAT.
I realize that Camry is FF it would be seriously funny to see someone try it... just throw lotsa $$ at it. It's like a Kcar with a supercharged bigblock Hemi... why? Because it's friggin ridiculous... that's why! 😛

Who are you?

Oh yeah forgot to answer the question at hand.
I don't swap cars with my neighbors ever but I do with my roomate (what can I say, I like his Maxima aot, which is suprising....).
Going to pick up my Maxima Tuesday though so I imagine that will come to an end 🙂

Heck no!

If anything happens with traded car, both of us are going to suffer. The insurance covers the vehicle rather than the person. If I wreck their car, their premium goes up and vice versa. Furthermore, if they kill someone with my car, the victim could sue me as a owner of the motor vehicle involved in the accident.

The chance is small, but it's not worth the risk.

PS: I NEVER let my friend's drive my car.
