Do you suppose anyone has a need for a Voodoo2 card?

I was digging around my parts bin and found two 12MB Voodoo2 accelerators and an SLI cable. Do you suppose there is any market for these things? Would anyone buy or trade me for em? I didnt want to post in FS/T forum yet cuz I was just curious.

Not worth much unfortunately as they won't run most games today... well, perhaps at 640x480.... but they are severly underpowered compared to cards today.

GOod luck.

<--- Remembers his Voodoo2 SLI combo.... it rocked back in the day.

Actually, they would run UT great at 1024x768. I forgot what CPU I had but I think it was a Celly 366@550.

Haha, yes they are PCI, but they don't do 2d... only 3d. We have a n00b in our midst.

Oh, I've got one too. 12MB Creative. My friend paid $400 for it when Final Fantasy 7 came out for PC, because our Riva 128s couldn't do 8-bit palletized textures.

I personally might use it for my older games, particularly that Glide-patched version of Carmageddon I have. Another good one for Voodoo2's is Tribes, since running it in OpenGL usually creates lockups when you get a minor latency spike. The only way to get rid of it is to refresh the screen. No idea why. But regardless, both are pretty old games. (Tribes is still played pretty thoroughly though)

I have a voodoo1 on hand to put in my P133 retro-gaming rig when I get a chance. Some old DOS & W95 games just don't run well on my p3-933 let alone the P4 rig with WinXP I'm buying this summer. Why give up on old classics when a KVM switch is only $30 (and a used p1 rig isn't much more :) )

They were good for old computers w/ onboard video. I had an old compaq that had onboard video and refused to let me disable it. I tried putting a different graphics card in it and it refused to POST. So I got a Voodoo 2 and I had 3D acceleration. Woohoo.

I know exactly what your problem was. I've highlighted the relevant text.

When I got these things I was happier than a pig in sh!t. They were the fastest things out there and in SLI mode...forget about it...my games flew.

Jfall, I was lookin at your system rig that is impressive...a 15300Mhz 1800+ at 16400Mhz. You are the first to hit 16.4Ghz w/ that chip :D
