Do you support more gun control?

Do you support more gun control?

  • Yes I do, I would even support a gun ban.

  • Yes I do, I wouldn't go as far as ban though.

I personally do, look at how easy it is for people to get a gun. The school shooting in California was done with a legally obtained gun. Same with the Arizona shooting, same with the VT shooting.

Most countries don't even have guns. I'd give up that right for universal health care. I'm OK with not having any guns for when the British invade and retake the colonies.

I'm of the opinion that since owning a gun is a basic right of being an American that the federal government should supply each citizen with a rifle, a shotgun and a handgun along with as much free ammunition as each citizen would like and some really cool awesome ranges for test firing and practice. and targets. and cool shooting glasses. and holsters and other cool gun stuff.

i support gun control, everyone should know how to control a gun, if they so choose.

"most countries don't even have guns" do you actually believe this? truth: a lot of places only allow the criminals to have guns, because the law abiding citizens do not have the right to defend themselves.

Yes, we need to control the guns getting into the hands of criminals.

Each citizen, at the age of 18, should be issued one hand gun along with ammo and instructions on how to control said gun. At 21, if they've been a responsible gun owner, they should be issued a rifle and ammo along with a refresher on proper gun control.

Criminals, being aware of the fact that all adults are potentially armed, would go into another line of work, if they're smart.

Well everyone I know who owns a gun is some suburb living paranoid freak who gets a power trip on it. And I know a handful of people with guns. Sorry I live in California its not gun country per se.

They spend countless time going on about how everyone should be able to concealed carry to walk a dog at night or sell stuff to a stranger on craigslist in an upper middle class suburb or protect themselves from thugs when they've never been in a dangerous situation in their lives .

Someday someone will looks "suspicious" to them and they piss themselves and consider firing and who knows what happens.

People here who know me know that I'm mostly a flamin' liberal, but the 2nd amendment is here to stay.

I do feel, though, that localities ought to have the right to determine what constitutes "proper" gun ownership/use and apply sensible rules. NYC, for example, would have a common sense sort of objection to people firing off .30/06 rifle rounds within city limits. But if you live in rural Alaska, then obviously, different standards apply. Your stray bullet has that much less likelihood of inadvententy blowing someone's brains out.

If the argument comes down to the # of outlaws in our society firing off guns, then maybe we should properly address the outlaw problem. Canada has shitloads of guns per capita, but not as many outlaws, and therefore, less of a gun violence problem.

With more states than ever allowing concealed carry more people are carrying guns now. Handguns sales skyrocketed when Obama became President, crime is down.

Mexico has tough gun control laws, crime is high. All the drug cartels are well armed.

Bad logic.

I've come to the conclusion that gun control either makes good people less safe or it makes no overall difference in terms of safety. We need to stop looking at utility and to start looking at the ethics of liberty.

I want to make getting a gun as difficult as the Republicans want to make getting an abortion.

I do as well but not for the same reason as you.

It should be mandatory that all citizens capable of carrying and using a gun have one on them at all times.

Watch how fast the crime rate goes down to as low as it could be.

I'd be more comfortable with gun-owners if they'd just admit the fears that drive them to want to own a gun.

I think you need to look in the mirror and confront your own fears about guns. I own quite a few guns and have for over 30 years. I have never been driven by fear to even purchase one of them. They are all locked away. I haven't had time to go shooting in about 5 years. I live in a state where there is concealed carry yet I do not have the permit. I can legally carry a loaded pistol in my vehicle due to the castle law....yet I don't. Yea, boy am I driven by fear when it comes to owning a gun.

I'm still not sure what left wing people are trying to accomplish when they take away guns. Up here in Canada, hand guns are exceptionally rare, but we still have violence and crime. Instead of being robbed with a gun, you'll get robbed with a machete.

If anyone has the stomach for it, check google images for what a machete attack looks like. Seeing stuff like that is what gives people PTSD.

Rural America has a gun psychosis. They depend on their guns for the long wait when law enforcement can serve them. They watch TV and get scared when the folk in the cities who have law enforcement and guns in the hands of gangs and drug dealers start agitating about taking guns off the street. The poor folk in the county start imagining themselves besieged by drug dealers and gangs etc, and ammo up and start frothing about somebody taking their guns. In the country guns are for protection of your home and in the city for the protection of turf and territory where any and all get blown away.

Not coincidently cities are Democratic because people who live together in large numbers create and evolve civilization where as the retrograde preservers of traditional culture live more isolated rural lives and vote Republican.

Because the folk in the cities who suffer from guns want to regulate them, the Republicans can get the rural vote by promising them they can keep their vital protection. So the rural folk have been scared shirtless and are ferocious now about keeping their guns, and the Democrats in the city see then as out to kill them with those guns.

The answer to guns, of course, is culture and civilization, where citizens have internalized morals that prevent them from harming other people. Nobody needs or focuses on guns among good people or cares if somebody likes to hunt, shoot, or collect them.

My signature on another site:

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to the police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

Well we can keep making gun crimes more illegal to make people feel better or we can actually start taking illegal guns out of the hands of criminals.

The American Dream

Looks good to me. Here's some more countries which I wish America had the same rights as...

Switzerland, where every citizen is issued a full-auto rifle and required by law to keep it prepared with ammo in their house:

Or possibly Israel... reow.
