Do you supplement w/ Casein?

I know blends like Syntha-6 contain casein, but it does not say how many grams per serving. I was wondering if anybody uses just a pure casein supplement in addition to their whey or blended protein mixes. I mainly do insanity or p90x workouts, I don't power lift or lift super heavy anymore, so is taking casein before bedtime needed or worth the extra cost? Currently I drink 2-3 scoops syntha-6 per day, 1 scoop soy, and take 1 serving of L-glutamine and L-carnitine.
 
I don't use it b/c I'm a cheap bastard. But a lot of the hardcore guys will use it before bed. Casein is supposed to be slow digesting protein. Think of it making a giant ball of casein goo. That ball slowly digests throughout the night.

Straight Whey protein is most like a quick blast of protein that digests quickly. Most people use whey right after workout for quickly replenish.

They also say something like cottage cheese is good before bed as it is a lot of casein. You gotta be a little careful with that though are there is sugar/fat is many of them.
 
i prefer myofusion, as it usually ends up being cheaper and has fewer calories + more protein per saving. but if syntha is cheaper at the time, i get that 🙂

some people don't like it and think it's a waste. i actually really enjoy and feel as though it's helped a lot. i actually take it 3 times a day so my body is constantly getting protein throughout the day. breakfast, lunch and right before bed. i drink whey right after my workouts though and snack on cottage cheese, like ninja just said. i'm also a huge fan of honey peanut butter now 😀

This is true. However, sometimes I find that the savings isn't that much because with my gold card's 20% off, it is maybe 2-3 more dollars than online due to the shipping costs. If you can get free shipping it's worth it. Otherwise I think I would pay the extra few bucks to have my product same day, rather than waiting a week for it to ship..That's just me tho.


Anybody here also supplementing with L-carnitine, Glutamine, arginine? Just starting taking them yesterday...I don't feel as stiff as I normally might after a hard work out, but still sore. IF you do take these, how many grams per day? The recommended dosage on these is less than what I have been reading on body building/athletic forums.
 
i like to visit gnc every so often to see what's expired that i can get for like 70-80% off. i got lucky a couple times with the huge 5lb tubs of isopure for probably $25 after taxes. never got lucky with syntha or myo though 🙁
