Do you stretch or shrink?

Many of us have 22in monitors, meaning we have a resolution of 1680x1050. This is too small for 1080p and bigger than 720p. So the question is, do you stretch (the 720) or shrink (the 1080) or view as native size (could be either)?

I typically watch 720p stuff and stretch it. Just curious to see what other people do. The question also relates to video in general. For instance youtube, do you typically watch it in it's original size or do you blow it up?

Yeah, you don't really have a choice..... My laptop is 1440x900. So 720p is a bit upscaled and 1080p videos (which I try to avoid getting) are downscaled to fit.

Couldn't you run 1080 at full size but with a little clipping? I wonder if the better clarity would make up for losing a few lines of content.
