Honestly, why are these still around? They corrupt easy, hold absolutely nothing, and very bulky. Gah...what do you still use it for?

My floppy went flippy. I still have a couple on the shelf in case I need to boot from disk. I have older machines in my network that run NT 4 and Win2K.

Funny story: A few months ago, someone in my company sent a company-wide email out asking if anyone had a 3.5" floppy drive that they could borrow to load some old files onto their computer. One of the older senior sales execs replied to his buddies
I have something old that is about 3.5" and floppy(on cold days that is) that still carries a punch but I don't think it will solve your problem.
What he didn't realize was that he had accidentally hit the "Reply-All" button... so not only did his buddies get the email, but so did everyone else in the company. Man, the sh*t storm that exploded from that was funny to watch....

Check out msfn.org to learn how to integrate all mobo drivers.
nlite is also a great tool

I upgraded to the P180 case back in June and haven't installed my floppy drive yet.

I have one need for it every blue moon. I just borrow the external USB floppy drive from work.

They are the perfect tool for some uses. But the number of uses is slowly dwindling.

Hell yes I use floppies. And damn the industry for almost completely phasing them out. :|

for an occasional bios flash, but that's it. I integrated my SATA drivers into my custom XP SP2 disc.

1. For Norton Ghost
2. BIOS updating
3. F6 for RAID, AFAIK Vista supports loading drivers from USB drives and the like

Yeah, I keep 'em around.

Have never purchased one seperately, just pull out of old PCs. I use mine for running memtest etc.

I think floppy went the way of those HUGE disks. I still remember grade school with those BIG things.

My dad asked me to get something off a 10 year old floppy disk the other day - I told him we no longer support that format. This did not go down well :p

I have them anyway, so I put them in any machines that I already have and am just upgrading. On my main rig I use the extra RAID channels as normal IDE ones and have to have the drivers on floppy when I reinstall Windows. About two months ago, I replaced the standard floppy with a 7-in-1 media reader, so I have a floppy with something to read my digital camera card; my camera is an old type that uses a proprietary serial link that I lost and can't replace easily, so it works out.

:D :D :D

I haven't used a floppy drive in years.

I actually have a Zip drive in my computer, but it's only there to fill the hole.

I have one in my PC. I'm not actually sure if it even works, I haven't used it...at all since I got it in 2001. I'll probably buy another one when I build my next PC...but probably after that, I won't even bother.
