Peacefully assembling somewhere to protest for a day is different than occupying an area for months on end.

Hahahaha, do you actually believe this nonsense? In case you haven't noticed, the exact same thing happens regardless of which party is in power -- wealth accumulates at the top. You've just been conned into thinking one party looks out for you more than the other, when nothing could be further from the truth.

Pretty much. The democrats enact "entitlements" designed to keep the poor beholden to the government. The republicans enact tax code to keep the government from taking rich peoples money. What's worse? Not letting the government take your money, or the government not letting you have the ability to get money?

This is the sort of idiocy some of our worse citizens fall for. The government providing traffic signals and education and clean water are all a conspiracy to make you dependent!

You really can't talk to people like this. They are nuts, and any discussion of the issues is a waste of time pretty much IMO. Nice conspiracy theories.

When the government passed laws allowing labor rights, clearly it had nothing to do with 'what's good for the country', it was all a scheme for vote getting.

The very idea of the government doing what citizens want? A nefarious plan to get the citizens' votes!

Only when a government attacks its citizens can we feel sure it's not pandering.

Given the thread title and the diatribe in the opening post... I have one question:

When did the OP ever support these people?

Diatribe or truth that u do not care to believe because it serves your purpose not to.

He never supported these leeches sounds like to me he was asking if your dumb ass still did.

That is BS, that isn't their gripe at all. They think banks are evil.

They just encouraged people to move their bank accounts to credit unions and small local banks. If they just thoughts banks were evil they'd be encouraging people to stuff their money in the mattress and burn down the banks.

If they didn't like the political system, they would all march through washington D.C. But they don't. They are only targeting companies. Why? Because they are as a whole too stupid to realize that the government is what caused this mess by forcing banks to make sub prime loans to people that would never be able to pay the loan off. The banks had to figure out a way to not loose their shirt so they tried the dirivatives and mortgage bundling.

What's the view like with your head up your ass? Some of them are in D.C. right now and some are marching from N.Y. to D.C.

Every Occupier, needs to pack up, head to DC and remove the politicians from office that keep enacting entitlement programs with no concern for how that program will actually be paid for or who is ultimately going to pay it. Because the government isn't paying for anything. We the people are.
The Tea Party atleast was coherant, and capable of gathering enough support to bring viable electable candidates to the races and get them elected. That shows where "the peoples" voices are.
If OWS are serious they'll stop causing a mess and trying to hurt people and wearing V (Guy Fawkes) masks and turn their attention to the real problem in this country. The Government.

Does that shit look anymore appealing with your head up your ass? The tea party is wildly unpopular, funded by billionaires, and has all the class and intelligence of professional wrestling. If that's what you think of as "coherent" and "popular" you must still be a virgin!

I live across the street from this park. The less than aesthetically pleasing transformation of it is very annoying, but I do support the overall goals of the Occupy movement - even if said movement is doing absolutely nothing to help those aims. Can I support the cause and not the people?

I still support the original cause. These bankers devastated the global economy and put millions out of work, and not one went to jail.

My point with the sprinklers is how it's devolved into pure vagrancy. The protest ceased weeks ago. It's just a tent city now. They're just depriving people of a beautiful park and destroying it at the expense of those they claim to fight for. How does this really punish greedy bankers? It doesn't. It punishes the 99%. They're the only people being affected negatively by the protests. Doesn't matter if it's $100,000 of $100 billion.

For those who don't live in Toronto, I'll give a bit of background. The park is at Jarvis and King Streets. It's already a sketchy area as is, especially at night. I used to work further up at Jarvis and Bloor but would pass through the area on my way home, around midnight. Lots of hookers, drug addicts, and homeless people frequent that area. The radical socialist organization, Ontario Coalition Against Poverty, also has it's headquarters near there. Area was a hub of "protests" during the G20.
