I have a record player, and when I try to play CD's on it, it sounds like crap. I dunno why. It sounds like "SCHHHHWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKCCCCRRRRRRAPAAAPAPAPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASHSHHSHSHSHHSHSHSHS"

I thought it was a tecno CD at first, but I dunno.

if you DJ.... turntables are the only way to play music... several of my friends DJ and they have all their favorite songs on vinyl. LPs give you the highest quality sound of any type!! I'd take a couple of Technic Turntables over a CD player any day!

Montel-

LOL as usual. :)

Infos-

Sorry, no but Im sure they exist. If you know anyone in the Service the ususally get good deals on that type of thing.

Viper-

I envy your youth but you did miss a little something special!

For DJs and Purists-

I agree. Nothing beats warm vinyl sound but it is only a few percent and CDs are really not that bad. Ill take either if the artist is the medium.

For movies, DVD sound rules but for pure music, give me vinyl if possible.

Last Record I had I won on a radio show Michael Jackson's BAD album.

It proved to be a good name for the album :p

Actually My bud Had a Nirvana Nevermind Record that actually sent his kick ass spectrum analyser off the chart. I'm not sure if it sounded better but it definately was not any worse. of course all his stuff was high end so that helps.

Setting up a good turntable and cartridge, adjusting tracking and so forth was the computer techology of the day if you understand my meaning.

Stereo has somewhat been replaced by computers and audio/vdeo equipment but music still reighns supreme.

Agree or ????

I've got a friend who still listens to everything on vinyl pretty much. It's cheaper and the sound quality (if you keep your records clean) is better than digital media.

Yes it does have a better quality overall. When you try to convert an analog signal to digital, you can never fully express every bit of the data as a number.

what Killface said.... LPs are higher quality... however the draw back is that they are easily damaged... I can toss a CD around and the sound quality will not change... scratch an LP and your screwed...

Elite Orange-

Thanks for mentioning Stanton - (I had a 681EE if I am remembering correctly)

I was trying to remember that name along with any other cartridge/stylus manufacturers.

Please list them if you remember and turntable manufacturers also surch as AR.

Yes.

That's where most of my music is. Now if they can only figure out how to encoded dolby-digital onto an LP then we'd be set!

Get it? DD onto an LP? But in all seriousness a lot of CDs do sound pretty bad, but alot of it is recording.

Sorry about your loss ViperGTS. If you enjoy music you really owe it to yourself to get a turntable.

I completely understand the concept of analog sounding better than digital, but for me it's not worth the hassle or the cost for the marginal gains. I doubt my ears are golden enough to hear the difference anyway.

Besides, DVD audio will narrow the gap even further.

Viper GTS

Far from marginal gains in sound quality. When you listen to a record, you hear the difference.
And DVD sounds is still 1 and 0. The digital world has not changed much.

But vinyl is mostly for djs and the music purist.

Viper,

DVD-audio and SACD are certainly a step in the right direction. And both are LONG overdue. Looking forward to the technology, letting it settle for a while longer.

Well let me post for the third time that I'm in the middle of a convert LPs to CDRs session right now.

I'm giving them away for Chritmas presents, we don't exchange until the weekend so this week off saves me. Any good suggestions for recording software(not burning software), I hate to say that I'm using EZCD Spin Doctor.
