Do you speed?

girlfriend's ambulance company told her not to go more than 7 over the limit on the freeway. I figure that's a good arbitrary limit for me too.

Cruise control == teh win!

hmm, I heard the magic number was 8mph. <Danica reference>Maybe I can explain that I am 100lbs lighter than the avg male, thus gained the 1mph accidentally ? </Danica reference>

Depends on the road I'm traveling on. 10-15 usually. NEVER been pulled over, 'cause I'm smooth like that.

I am pretty consistant at 4 mph over the limit everywhere. 99.99% of cops have pulled over someone for speeding for 5 mph, but not for 4 mph. In many locations, only 4 mph will get thrown out of court due to inaccuracies in measurement techniques (cops and your own speedometer).

The only exception is timed stop lights, and in that case I go the speed of the timing (usually ~3 mph under the posted speed limit). It is always funny to do this and pass those who attempt to go 5, 10, or even 20 mph faster in these regions and have to stop at all the lights (I pass in the other lane as they are stopped and I get there just as the light turns green).

It's ok to speed up to around 10over in my area... I can abide by people in front of me locally going only 5over though. It's people that go the limit when there's nobody in front and they're not in a school zone or shopping area.

The only ticket I've gotten is for 40 in a 25 but I'm pretty darn sure it was a car going the other way it's just the cop decided to turn around and catch me when he saw the other guy fly off while I was only going 35. Heck, I'm not stupid enough to speed in front of my hometown high school! GRRR

A lot of highways in my area, especially during the weekend where blue laws are in effect, people go 70+ in a 50-55mph zones as a whole... so nobody gets pulled over for that. I recall some sections of the NYThruway & I78 people flying in packs above 85mph.

Also depends on the road for me. On a rural interstate I go <10 over. In Chicago the posted limit is 55 and you'll be driven off the road if you aren't going at least 70. How do you count that? It's 15 over the limit but keeping up with traffic.

You just admitted to doing 35 in a 25. Obviously you *are* stupid enough... 😛

Edit: Too slow. 🙁

It depends on the time of day and traffic on the roads. If it is rush hour and there is a lot of traffic, I can only go as far as the cars in front of me will allow... if it is late night and the roads are clear... that is a different story.

When VeggieFrog was in PSU, University Park, PA... it would take me 3.75 hours to get there... but driving home late at night... under 3 hours. it was 253 miles from my house. The speed limit is 50/55 in most places and 65 for the rest.

Yes and as much as I feel I can get away with.

Usually I am 10-15mph over the speed limit on the freeways here in SoCal. 80mph in a 65 or 70 zone is typical. Coming back from Palm Springs yesterday the speed limit is 75mph out there on the 10 freeway. I had the cruise control set at 80-85mph.

Edit-I had a modified Mustang GT up to 140mph in a 70mph zone once though.

I'll go with the flow of traffic.

if I'm alone, I usually go 5-10 miles over the speed limit on local roads (depending on the road) and 10-15 miles over on highways.

I just drove 450miles last night. I did 75-85mph on the interstate. I went with the flow too, I was doing 75mph in the middle lane when I saw the cop in front of me. there was another guy doing 80mph on the left lane. it was morning rush.

I usually don't do much more than 10 over unless I'm going with a faster flow of traffic, or sometimes when I'm feeling lucky and I'm in the middle of nowhere. 😛

I go maybe 5 over the limit. But, when I am in Leon Valley, I make sure I follow the speed limit. They have 35mph speed limits all over. My brother was pulled over for going 36mph! :Q

Depends on where I am.

In town, I almost never speed. 5 over at most (this is on one road that has a 25 mph speed limit but the flow of traffic is always 30 mph).

On the highway, 10-20 depending on the general ratio of police to the area.

I usually go the flow with traffic, which can range from 5 to 15 over. If I'm alone, I'll stick to 5-10 over. There are times when I get carried away... I got a ticked 2 years ago for 28 over in a 55... needless to say I don't speed that much... on that road anymore =P

Speed limit is 80 I usually drive 110... speed limit 100 I drive 130...

I've had my car up to 245 before... so I wonder if that raises my average... 🙂
