As we all know smoking is not good for health, while searching on how severe smoking
can be for human lungs and other organs I came across this video.

Note:For those who think smoking makes them look badass...Please, reconsider and do
some research why you think so.

Glad this isn't going into my system anymore.
They should show things like this in school to middle school students.
May have made me think twice back in the day.

They say that every cigarette takes like 15 minutes or so off your life right? Well, the last few years of your life generally suck, so if smoking takes those away, that's a good thing!

I stopped smoking 14 years ago. Thankfully I never got to the point where I was addicted...but I'll never smoke again. For people who do, do what you want man..your body your choice.

I did love the nicotine buzz though 😀

One thing that was never nice though, if you were a smoker and fingered your girlfriend's #%@!!, it made it taste really weird afterwards.

It sucks because most people eat like shit and they don't move. Look at Jack Lalaine. He was in his 90's and he was still a very active person.

I quit smoking about a year.
I smoked a just few cigarettes a day. I became allergic to tobacco smoke.
I still have problems with the respiratory system.

LOL, he's spammed this shit all over the internet.
"Smoking is horrible for you" is not a revelation to anyone.

you are one post away from lifer.

are you going to retire now, go out in a blaze of glory with one massive call-out post, or just continue on like the rest of us losers?

Probably the craziest thing I learned about this is Polonium

The proteins in tobacco really like to absorb polonium, they have a very high affinity for it, and its also radioactive. So smoking a pack a day is about 1000 nrems a year or so of radiation expire.

Waking the Sleeping Giant:The Tobacco Industry’s Response to the Polonium-210 Issue

It is estimated that smokers of 1.5 packs of cigarettes a day are exposed to as much radiation as they would receive from 300 chest X-rays a year.

Yeah NIH.

The NIH article is pretty good and should pucker just about any smokers butt 😛

Its a double whammy because tobacco smoke paralyzes the cillia that would be capable of removing that crap from your lungs, for at least 24 hours.

It's called being in flavor country.

What's the point of this? Do people still smoke because they think it's good for them?

i smoke occasionally. and by occasionally i mean, i might go to a concert and get drunk and end up smoking like 4 cigs.

so i'd say probably less than a pack a month. oh well its social. and you get a pretty good smoking buzz if you rarely smoke like me.

everything is gonna kill you anyway

 Even though you are probably only joking I can't let this go without comment because I see it posted over and over here.

My Father-In-Law will turn 80 this year. He is in excellent shape, isn't overweight, doesn't smoke, has been active all his life. He eats what he wants because he exercises, he drinks wine in moderation. He travels, he plays golf, he volunteers his time and spends time with his children and grandchildren. His quality of life is fantastic and I would expect him to live another 10 years.

My Dad died 3 years ago at age 65 due to complications from diabetes. He spent the last year of his life in a hospital bed, on dialysis 3 times a week, he had part of his foot removed, the last 3-4 years in and out of hospitals having all kinds of invasive surgeries including two open heart surgeries. He smoked on and off throughout his life, he drank, he partied, he had a horrible diet. He was not active, took very poor care of himself and the last 5-6 years of his life sucked hard and he was in terrible pain and discomfort.

By the way, both of my Dad's parents are still alive (they don't drink or smoke).

If you want to die young, in terrible pain, in and out of hospitals, then by all means, treat your body like nothing you do now has any consequences for the future. Odds are not in your favor though and I've seen firsthand what really happens when you treat your body like a trash can... or an ashtray.

 This is such colossally bad advice and terribly ignorant of the facts.

I am sorry for your loss, but I thought it was incredibly clear I was not being serious. Perhaps I am too facetious.

Are there difference between tobacco nicotine and marijuana? I am just curious.

Well they're completely different plants, so yeah. And you don't have to smoke marijuana to get high from it. And it's not loaded with all kinds of other chemicals (assuming you grow it yourself). You never know what those mexicans are going to do to it.

Most of the health problems from cigarettes don't come from the nicotine. Though nicotine isn't great for you either.
