Do you shoot off fireworks even if they are illegal?

I do too, somewhat, and usually once every few years or so. I have some fireworks going back to 1985! They are bottlerockets from Louisiana. I might light a string of Black cats, but mostly they are non report items like sparklers and those crazy spinners that turn colors or smoke bombs. It all depends on who is around. Sometimes Ill buy a tank or launch one of my 25 year old bottle rockets.

I have a few items going back to 1982! (they usually fizzle out and do nothing)

Yes. Just have to go 20 minutes to cross state lines into Indiana and get all the good stuff. Cops don't care and will leave you alone on 4th weekend.

Here in North Idaho the "safe and sane" fireworks are legal so that's what we will be shooting off, but lots of folks head to the nearby Indian reservations for their fireworks. On the Res they thumb their nose at the White Man and sell the fireworks intended to put Yugos and shit into low Earth orbit. It's technically illegal off the Res, but everyone will be doing it. I can't wait for Sunday.

They're illegal in my area, but everyone uses them and the police don't care. At least they don't care if you're doing it on private property. In city parks they'll confiscate the fireworks.

I did when I lived in Indiana, and my parents did in their more rural part of NJ, but where I live in NJ it's a little too risky I think.

And really, anything I could buy myself can't compare to what any of the small towns around here would do.

I'll be down the shore this weekend, I'll be able to see plenty of good fireworks from the balcony on my father-in-law's roof.

No. When I was a kid we'd go outside the city limits to set them off. But then a bottle rocket arced low and set a field afire. That kind of put a damper on the business.

I've had a fascination with fireworks/pyrotechnics since I was a kid. Especially the illegal stuff (not because its illegal). I even used to make my own stuff before 9/11.

I have many fond memories of watching the annual fireworks show. The best ones were about 10 years ago. Before the city screwed up the show by moving it to a local city run ballpark to drum up attendence a long time ago, they used to fire them by the river going back to the early 70s.

Then around 97 or so we discovered that if you walked about a 1/4 mile down a train track, through a dense forest full of fire flies, you could get to the train bridge crossing and sit on or near it. That spot was so close to the fireworks, you could see them come out of the launchers. When more and more people started to discover this prime viewing location, the set up a police barricade near the entrance calling it a fire hazard. One year a big fire did erupt in the dry and dense forest that was cool to watch, but still, the city didnt have to ruin all the fun. :'(
