Mongaloids... I bet the same people who say "sly" pronounce ATOT "aye tot" and THG "thug."

Never even thought of those and agree that's wonky, but I stand by "sly". The real Geek would never say "ess ell eye", they'd say "Scalable Link Interface" and ignore the look of confusion upon the face of those listening to them! :D

"Sly" isn't even the correct pronuciation of "SLI" even if it was an actual word... the correct pronunciation would be "slee."

Really? Explain.

How again is this tread related to video? Oh yeah, because people are talking about three letters that correspond to a video feature. Honestly, who cares how someone says it? This is a thread that should go on an english column somewhere else. I can't believe it has made it this far. It's just a pole, tell the OP how you say it and go on. Why stop and start bickering about who is an idiot for saying it different ways. Grow up guys.

Ya, I originally typed that out, but decided to doublecheck and saw the newer version of it. :D

Yeah, we get it... you're mature, you take the high road. Wait... why did you post here? (shrug) Don't trip over the door mat on your way out the door as you look down your nose at everyone...

Pi is Greek, not English, so it doesn't apply. The word I is a single letter word so it's pronounced the same as the letter name, which in all cases happens to be the "long" pronunciation as with A, E, O, etc.

Sure it does apply. Fact is, "i" can be pronounced either way.

Seems to be SLY, according to this.

But depends on whether you are speaking of SLI or SLI :p

Personally I say S.L.I. (For several reasons, not the least of which S.L.I. all stands for different things so combining them is done but comparing it to other similar PC parts it should not be, for instance P.C.I., I.S.A. (Although I.S.A. is sometimes called ISA), and so on, but sometimes it is done as well such as CMOS.) as SLY sounds kind of silly for a computer part. Wow did you see his SLY setup lol.

But bottom line is I think both are correct, just like ISA.
