Do you run a virtual machine?

I had a windows 98 one to play simcity 2000 until i got bored burning down cities. Used it to play simtower as well until i remembered what a pain in the ass that game could be, cant delete laundry things or security rooms wtf? Nobody wants to live in my fkin tower wtf? 🙁

No, but I'm seriously considering it, I might amalgamate my servers into a single server with a load of virtual servers installed on it.
 
yeah, I have a couple of server 2008 vms, and a couple of windows client vms that I use for school or as a lab environment before I try something at work now and again

Cool. I changed my screen name because it was time. It was unique and I liked it, but it was too unique.
 
I run an image of my work laptop at home so I could work on projects when outside of work (pulled projects from work server, did work and e-mailed results back to work e-mail). Very handy (XP-Pro laptop image on Windows 7 - 64 bit using VMWare Player)
 
I run one that I'm trying to turn into my security environment, in a way.
multifactor authentication, digital signatures, card reader, and lazy services integration (among other things) all adds up to having none of it, or locking it all down in a VM - otherwise, all the software involved completely fucks up Windows in a way that cannot be repaired, save for a format and clean install.
 
Have a standard XP VM on everyone of my machines running under VirtualBox.
Very handy for browsing untrusted sites 🙂
 
I have a few production ones, and every now and then I might turn one up for testing something.

3 of them are for my game server. The data storage server (basically a MySql box) the dev environment, and the test environment. The prod environment is on a separate leased server and is also in a VM. It's a .net app so it has to run in windows. I also have another vm for p2p/torrents that runs Transmission. I just like to keep it separate as it'is out of sight out of mind, kinda deal and I can just turn it off if I need to do a flush of the network connections.

currently I'm using Virtualbox, but I want to switch to a platform that is more "server targetted". Virtualbox requires to have the console window open for it to work. There is a headless mode, but then you can't get the console at all. I may try out xen or proxmox. I ordered a new server so I can play with it on without messing with my prod environment.
 
I have about 20 VMs on 2 Live Hosts, and about 12 on a test host (all at work), at home I have linux VMs on VMplayer, but dont use them much
 
I used to run a Linux virtual machine for development at home, but I've switched my home computers to dual boot Linux and I just stay in Linux most of the time. No need to dual boot anymore.
