I just got a call from a South Carolina Number (I'm in CA, don't know anyone is SC). I was about to pick it up but I just missed it.

Do you guys return calls when you don't recognize the #?

I don't answer any call if I don't know the number. If they don't leave a message then I couldn't care less what they wanted.

Work and personal calls if you don't leave a message then it's not important enough to return the call. Even if I know the number/person.

If they don't bother to leave a message, I don't bother to call them back. (only applies for unknown numbers)

I don't return missed calls even when I do know the number.

if it wasn't important enough for them to have left a message, it's probably not important enough to bother calling them back.

Never. If it is important, they will leave a message. Else it is usually someone saying I need a car warranty or how I cannot live another day without getting an insurance quote from their agency.

I answered yes, but the actuality is probably no... If they don't leave a message I probably don't know them... o_O

Absolutely this. If it isn't important enough to leave a message, it isn't important.

I think the last time I called back a strange phone, I said "hey, someone called me from this number... who is this?" and the response was "huh? who is this?" and it got reaally awkward from then on...

so yeah, I don't pick up the phone unless the area code is from back home, which means it's probably a relevant call.
