Do you return DSL modem to Verizon?

After your subscription is up and you cancel your Verizon DSL service, do you need to return the modem to Verizon?

they didnt ask mine back, so i will have to say no.

I do tech support for a chain of stores, and when they get modems replaced the techs never take the old ones back.


VZ support told me on the phone they are trying to replace all the 'dumb' modems with 'smart' modems (modem/router combos).

FWIW, when I cancelled Time Warner cable internet, they sent a 3rd-party to come pick up the cable modem in person.
