Yep, we just switched to all Linux/Apache webservers at work.

We had a Unix network at my old job on IBM RISC 6000's.

We have about 25 servers all running Redhat 7.2. I have two Redhat boxes in my office, as well as a Windows machine. Our mail server (which I installed and manage) is linux-based.

If "use" means logging onto a UNIX/Apache web server remotely to make changes to sites, log files, etc. then yes. All the time.

But no, I pretty much use Windows all the time for everyday work stuff. I took a course in UNIX during college and while we learned a little bit about the OS (which I found interesting) unfortunately we spent most of our time programming scripts and such . . . which is not my strong suit.

i don't have a job but. i thought i'd contribute anyways. so at home i use debian linux and open bsd 3.0. 100% *nix in my lan. all the windows machines stay off the lan.

We have a Linux mail server here at work, so I suppose that counts. Requires very little maintenance. Just telnet in, perform useradd and set a password.

I formerly worked with Solaris 2.5 and 2.6 on a daily basis. Unix and Linux are both good, solid operating systems.

Linux (Redhat) on several firewalls running ipchains/iptables
Linux (Debian) on one of my laptops
AIX v4
SCO OpenServer r5 ()

and of course all of my Windows boxen...

Win2k Pro on my primary laptop
WinNT 4 on several of our servers
Win2k Svr/Adv. Svr on several of our servers

etc.

Btw, for the most part, I use my *nix boxen entirely from the command-line. X? What's that?

We sell our software on Windows, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, Dynix and OS/390, so we have development machines of all flavors. We also have a Linux machine though we've never actually sold our software on Linux.

Edit: Even though I have Visual C/C++ on my PC I actually do most of my coding on the Linux machine using the LAN Workplace Pro X Server software. Most of the rest of the developers spend their time on Windows and only use the UNIX machines when they have to compile/test for those platforms. I rarely touch the mainframes. Fortunately there are others here more adept at coding on the mainframes, so they do the bulk of the work there.

yup. At kmart, we use IBM Netservers and run an IBM badged version of unix i think. As for the desktops, not sure of the version, but it's linux. The boxes are too dummy-proofed for us to even look at the proxy settings in netscape.
