I just had a discussion on this topic with my brother yesterday.

No I (and he) do not get jealous of others success but we see how it seems the less you make the more likely people are to be jealous.

Some people are so jealous of others success that they'd rather that successful person be forced to give it all away, it's the whole if I can't have it them screw everyone else way of thinking that I personally feel is a big issue with the way people think.

KT

Provide some examples of people that are insanely wealthy and popular that didn't work hard and have no skills.

I dunno, Paris Hilton and the entire group of clods she hangs with is what came to mind as I was writing that.

KT

Her skill is keeping her name in the headlines. Also if you don't think she works hard she likely takes more business meetings in a week than you do in a month. you don't see stories of her business meetings only her drunk club nights. Try producing a tv show too those are like 12 hour days everyday.

next.

She isn't insanely wealthy either. She is rich. Her family is wealthy.

No discernable talent in my eyes. Just because her family is wealthy and she sits in a few meetings, she's all of a sudden talented? I don't think so.

I think the people that we admire the most would be the people that rolled up their sleeves and really got some hard work done. I think the people we envy the most are the people that didn't have to work hard, just maybe had a good idea and knew how to make the ball roll until it was unstoppable. Bottom line, there should be no reason for us to wish these people made less. Granted, we can be upset when the capitalize on things that affect our every day living but these people that are making the big bucks shouldn't be to blame.

There's an old saying that goes something like "there's no honest way to make a million dollars". I suppose that would now apply to a billion.

Also one of the reason the gas price is so high right now is because of guys like these speculating on future prices.

Ok, but would if I took it so far as to play the advocate here and say again "hey, if they can make the money, if the controls aren't in place that there are no restrictions limiting what they are doing with gas prices then so be it, that's just power to them"

Please, please, please don't turn this into a fucking gas thread.

What part of "ONE OF THE REASON" you don't understand? ...ie...one of many many reasons..not the only one. Also, do some research and see if I was right about speculating or I just make it up and pull it out of my butt/conspiracy stuffs like some of the members here.

You said about turn it into a gas price, NOT me. Search the forum and see if I ever make a thread and whine about how high gas price is. :disgust:

Calm down. That paragraph break between my response to you and my gas statement was an attempt to make a clear indication that I was addressing everyone reading the post. Chill.

i know I am underpaid here but I like my job so I'm sticking with it. however last year I asked for a bigger raise. i got my bigger raise than normal. another coworker asked for a bigger raise too (started same time I did) and he did not get one. and by these raises we're talking like less than $10k extra the year.

then come this past february we get our bonuses. everyone got 11% bonuses but the higher ups get much ihgher bonuses.

i know for a fact that one of the higher ups got a bonus of 80k ... AFTER TAXES.

and it bugs me that they can't give other people who hav been here 3-4 years an extra 10k/yr. that type of stuff bugs me.

And here's where I couldn't disagree with you more. The higher ups are signed into things like this. It is a contractual agreement that they make with their employer when they are hired and it is updated every year. Your job, like it or not, is less important than theirs in the company and that is why you aren't given these options.

Again, if you can lock yourself into something like this and take advantage of it then there is nothing that says you wouldn't. You would do it if you were in their shoes, don't say you wouldn't.

i never said i didn't understand WHY it happens, i just said it sucks to be on the lower end of it.

and you are damn right, i would GLADLY accept a bonus of that size no questions asked.

OK, can't help myself: A team of people promoting someone and helping them out while they do absolutely nothing and have no real role and make no real decisions because its all handled by his posse? Bush? I'm done.

You are choosing to ignore her resume because you dislike her as a person. That does not change the fact that she does do work and she is successful.

I don't dislike her as a person, but I do dislike what she represents. All of the things listed in her Wiki are fine and dandy, if she actually had talent in any of them. She can't act, she can't sing and I seriously doubt she writes or creates any of the stuff she is into.

Thats your opinion. Fact is she got paid and is still getting paid for all those things. Do you think CEO's draft up contracts for corporate takeovers? No...they have a legal department for that. Do CEO's draft up quarterly earnings reports? No...they have finance departments for that.
Not too different.

I don't think you understand. While she may participate in that sort of thing which helps maintain her position, most of the real decisions are not made by her. She has people tell her to do all of that from A-Z. She was never in a position where she had to work up to the point where she had the luxury of being able to hire people to keep her rich like that. She was born into a position where she was able to skip all of the hard parts which are what truly earns respect in my eyes when it comes to people's accomplishments that made them wealthy.

It's a huge difference. People put in the same kind of work she does all of the time but are no where close to being as wealthy because unlike her, they did not start off with their bank accounts overflowing with money they didn't earn nor the fame of her family's business that she did nothing for.

Right, its people using her to make money for themselves instead of her using people to make money for herself. She's just along for the ride as long as she gets paid. She's the tool, the resource. The money makers are the one that exploit her.

i am actually surprised at how little wall st hating is going on in this thread. a sign of forum intellect improving?
