Do you read (stupid, lame, dumb, skip me) things in parentheses, or do you skip over them?

I skip over them and come back. I always find myself looking for the closing paren before reading the stuff inside.

I always read them... odd being that I excessively use them expecting people to skip over them (or not read them entirely).
