i love all these people saying 'sleep > studying'. i would say it depends on the person. when i was in college, which was the past 5 years, i stayed up all nights both for studying reasons and doing programming assignments. i only did all nighters on finals, never midterms. and it was only for the ones where i had to memorize stuff. and i think it was a great idea, and i did well on all of the finals i ever did that for. i also stayed up all night though because they were at 8am, and i am the kinda person who can't fall asleep before 2 or 3 am, and i feel worse off of 3-4 hours of sleep than I do off of no sleep. so i choose to stay up all night.

I tried not to. I found that I did better on tests if I got a solid 7-8 hours of sleep the night before, even if that meant neglecting studying.

I did for some papers/projects, though, and sometimes just to get ahead on homework.

there was this class that only had 2 tests all semester and I bombed the first one. well, i stayed up all night for the second one and got the highest grade in class. so if i have to stay up all night, i will.

I can't study or read when I'm really tired, so it wouldn't help me. When I get to the point where I'm re-reading the same paragraph several times, I know it's useless.
I think I did one or two to finish programming projects though.

All nighter for test = bad idea, can't think later.
For a project, paper = yes.

I've never done an all-nighter before. Typically I get about 6 hours of sleep; but if I have tests (especially finals) I give myself an extra hour of sleep.

I usually treasure sleep more then studying, but in the case of like finals or something, I would be inclined to use a little bit of help from a substance. Just a little, and you have no trouble staying up all night. But i wouldnt reccomend it.

I have pulled quite a lot of all nighters for school and a 6 or so for Uni in my 2yrs so far. Going in to my 3rd and I hope to pull NO MORE ALL NIGHTERS.

I'm going to dot he work early and FINISH IT early. Study early and not stay up all night. In the end it is 'pointless' if you study early you are FINE. But that then becomes the whole point if you don't study early :p

I've pulled all nighters for assignments, exams and one big group project in Uni. STUPID thing was I had done my part of the stuff BUT a few memebers of the group had not done their part so I was SHAFTED by that. Well I didn't stay up 'all' night as I sleep for 3hrs in the late late morning though. It was not fun and it p!ssed me off.

 to more more all nighters going in to my last year!
