Now another question...HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE SALMON?!!??

I always pronounce it w/ the L. SAL-Mon. But some people have mentioned that I should pronounce it w/o it. wtf?
Ok, you're just a tard.

🙁

but..but there's a L damn it. SaLmon arg. I can't get it out of my head. I can't get myself to pronounce it Sae-mon or Sah-mon. I always have to have the tip of my tongue complete its movement towards the roof of my mouth to pronounce salmon. There's a goddamn L in it damn it. And it's OfTTTTTen :| :| :| :| 😛

Well, I did pronounce Colonel and caveat differently until recently. I've always thought that kernel and colonel were different ranks. I've always pronounce colonel phonetically haha. col-lon-ehl. When I was talking to my friend one day, I said Colonel and he started lol'ing at me.

As for caveat, I always thought it was pronounced Ca-veeeet. This time my coworker lol'd at me 🙁. How do you get kah-vee-aht from that? 🙁

Based on personal experience in Midwest Michigan >80% do NOT say the T. I don't know anyone who does, either. I hear it sometimes and it throws me for a loop...

I say it both ways... just depends on how fast i'm talking..

I'm pretty sure the correct way is to pronounce the T, but I say both.

This thread needs a pole.

having a poll suggests it's opinion. grammar is right or wrong.

The question isn't about grammar.

I'm from the Northeast, and I pronounce it "offin." I also agree that the pretentious types are more likely to pronounce the T.
