If you play on your monitor, do you use a VGA box or TV card?

What have you found to be the best for hooking up to a monitor? Cheapest / best deal for the quality?

I searched and am looking at this X2VGA box and some others on eBay but am unsure which way to go. Console in question is a PS2.
 
I have a Dell UltraSharp and am blessed with having component and if need composite jacks.

As far as what to use to hook a PS2 up to your monitor, I would vote to use a VGA box. Many TV cards I have used put a lot of emphasis on making the signal looking as good as possible. While this may sound like a good thing, it results in a very noticeable lag between receiving the signal and displaying it.
 
I play my 360 on my monitor and it works perfectly, I'm not sure about the PS2 though. My TV cards inputs have about a half second lag, so that puts them out of the question for consoles.

don't bother with cheapo x2vgas. get the MS vga cable. i don't mean to market it but before buying it (i am poor college student so 50 bucks for a wire is a big deal for me) i researched i lot of alternatives. none came out cheaper.

tanishalfelven: that specific MS VGA cable only works with an Xbox though right?
 
360 hooked up via vga to my 19" monitor

it would probably look better on the 42" lcd downstairs but i like being able to switch between my comp and 360 instantly
 
I use my 360 on my monitor. It works perfectly, and looks a lot better than it did on my POS TV.

My reccomendation would be to go here if your looking for one. I got mine for ~$15 shipped.

Dang... I got all excited to click that link, but it's for a 360... not a PS2 😛
 
I play my GC via S-video, my PS2 via S-video, my Wii via S-video but my Xbox 360 play via HD VGA cable all on my 2007fpw
