Do you play video games with the lights on or off?

I image most play with light off to get better immersion, colour saturation, image detail etc etc... Sometimes though I'm embarrassed to admit I'll turn a light on if it's a scary game. Yeah I'm a pussy.

Or sometimes if I need to consult the manual for a new game if it's technically complex.

Topic needs 100% more poll. 🙂

I have a very small lamp with a 25w bulb that I keep on in the corner of the room; it very faintly illuminates the room but not enough to cause screen glare. If I shut off all the lights I'll bust my ass when I get up out of the chair and try to find the door. 😱 There's a lot of stuff in my small office/gaming room/music studio. Wires and guitars and amps, oh my!

Usually lights on because it's just a casual session. With a new game, or any scary game, where I want to immerse myself I'll turn the lights off and put on head phones. Quick blast of TF2 the lights stay on - makes me feel like less of a recluse 😛

One thing I miss about FuseTalk is that it had great poll editing options. vBs suck. I can't add a poll after the fact. And you can have only 1 poll per post.

Usually lights on, unless I really want to immerse myself in a horror game or L4D. Otherwise the lights are on so I have better sensory awareness (for CS and such).

Anyone else notice when they play TF2 they get tunnel vision? After an intense session I suddenly realize that my room is not entirely black - the lights are all on... but it certainly doesn't seem that way when I'm playing.

This pretty much. Except I use my Z-5500s, not headphones.

Headphones are good for porn 🙂 Especially when there are others in the house.

I'm OK with just turning my speakers down so my porn can't be heard through a closed door. Has the advantage of giving me more chance to hear a door open behind me in time to alt-tab away. I died a little inside writing that.

I have this and it's awesome. They go on sale every now and again for $30-40.

Huh thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that. I'm just about a touch typist by now, though I have no really training. But if I can't see the keys at all I do get messed up eventually.

I have a light on in the corner pretty much anytime it's dark in the room. Can't stand to look at a screen in a dark room, it's too bright.
