Just wondering how many musicians are on the forums. :)

I play piano and have also tried guitar, viola, and alto saxophone in the past. What do you play?

Guitar
Penny whistle
bagpipes
harmonica
didgeridoo
accordion
bodhrán

Several other instruments I've toyed with. I've only had partial success with guitar, harmonica, and penny whistle. I'm not especially musical, and learning tends to be a frustrating experience.

I would love to learn how to play bagpipes.

Currently trying to get better at:
Guitar/Bass Guitar

Tried my hand at drums..which I'm good at writing drum patterns (even telling drummers what to drum), but my coordination beyond 2 hands or 2 feet is limited trying to play them myself.

Mostly I write, and give it to other people to play ;p

If it's something you just want to try out and dabble with, get an electric babpipe (chanter). It's a good way to work your way into it and at least learn the fingerings.

You'd have a fool for a teacher :^D

Bagpipes are tough, and if you want to do it (semi)seriously, you should seek out instruction from a player. Highland pipes are like classical music is that there's only one way to do it, and if you don't do it that way, you're doing it wrong. The technique has been perfected over time to be the most efficient, though not always the most comfortable or obvious way to do it. If you start with bad technique, it can be hard to overcome later when you need to advance.

I guess many instruments are similar, but most are more forgiving depending on instrument and style of play. It's easier to get away with unorthodox guitar playing than it is with pipes.

I also played the trumpet in school, but I would be extremely rusty if were to pick one up now. Been many years since I last played.

Banjo.

Because fuck all those fancy instruments. I'm happy playing my banjo sitting here on my cooler full of beer.

Piano, guitar (electric and bass), clarinet (regular and bass), and alto saxophone. Of all those, the only one I still play on occasion is the guitar.
