Binary watch, Zipit Z2 with many different linux variants at any time loaded, quasi hacked g15, Zenobia 120 film folding camera from the 50's (camera geek), Rangefinder from the 70's,(more camera geek), Intent, and parts to build an actual darkroom, ability and parts to develop own color and b&w film (it's not really a single gadget per se).

Oh. A Ham Radio. HF, Kenwood TS-520se. Vacuum tube finals like Joe Pesci intended. Also a portable - Kenwood TH-F6A.

For a while some friends and I would also fire up DosBox for games of MoO2; now that was geeky.

Son..... This isn't meant to be a flame or anything, but until you telnet to a VAX at a university (in 1988, aka 4th grade) in order to MUD, you can't really call what you did geeky.

I bow to your geekdom, but an average person would label us both geeks ;)

Do you remember when Adult BBS's used to check for a Drivers License number as their age verification? I remember downloading an app off a shareware BBS that generated fake Drivers License numbers that fit the pattern .... then, used that fake number to gain access to Adult BBS sites when I was about 10 around 1990 ....

My plan was foiled when I had to upload in order to download, and since I didn't have anything worthwhile to upload, I remember uploading garbage that we had made in "corell draw" just to get our ratio up to download ... then getting banned from the sites ...

Ahh... to be young again ...

Never was too big on Mud, but I used to love playing BRE and eventually, Planets ....

I'm not sure.

I have a mini RC helicopter and the drinking bird from the Simpsons at the office, a hand-clap light switch at home and 3 smartphones (1 iphone, 2 androids)

I keep USB drive with Portable Apps on me at al times. Have Open Office, KeePass, Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird, Recuva, Defraggler, CCleaner, Sudoku, Breakout, and Tile World (a clone of CHIP's adventure).

Not really a gadget, per se, but I have a Boba Fett helmet.

We used to play BRE against other BBSs. I remember that fondly as my favorite pre-ISP game.

Well, I did build a video projector using a small LCD and Xenon headlamp bulbs. Does that count?

I have a ebook reader that I hacked to add a dictionary and read tech books and star wars books on it on a regular basis.

Rooted and baked rom on my Droid.

Hacked xbox 360.

A Mac Pro with 4TB's running Server 2008...

Any of those qualify?

To me they're not really but to non tech people they seem to be.

My aunt actually ran one of those. It was my idea that she actually call (via telephone) the new user to see if they were indeed adults. Ah Renegade and Telegard and WWIV and TAG BBS oh my. LORD, and BRE, and SRE, and FidoNET hee hee. OK I'll stop.
