Just curious. I have two desktops/workstations, a notebook and two servers (rack mount) at home. I am thinking about just going to a single notebook for everything.
I've got 14 desktops (all quad core), 6 laptops that haven't been made available to the general public yet, and three servers with 100TB combined storage.
I was thinking of consolidating to a single laptop, but I don't have the time since I'm a secret agent. (don't tell anyone)
I have owned three* laptops in the past, but I haven't needed one since I graduated college. A month after I graduated, I sold my laptop and bought a much, much faster desktop.
* I've actually owned several laptops over the years, but only three were my main computer. In addition to those, I've also owned five crappy old ones that I used for limited periods of time as mobile/backup machines.
Yes, it is a primary computer. I also have another laptop that I use as a file/print server, and a desktop that I use as a media server (hooked up to my home theater system).
one of my laptops is hooked up to my TV in my living room and is used to stream netflix/other computer media onto my big HDTV. my second laptop is on a table in my living room and used for browsing the web / playing WoW while watching tv.
my desktop is in my bedroom and is used for file storage + gaming
1 desktop, 1 laptop. The laptop is old and crappy though (from 2000 or 2001, I think). To give it credit though, it did serve its purpose as a primary computer for a few years when I was first out of college.
As soon as I have the disposable funds together, I'm getting a macbook.
I used my laptop for a primary for a while before building a new gaming desktop. I still used it for a year or so since I could use two monitors. Now it mostly sits around just to play DVDs that my desktop won't and for Netflix watch instantly (doesn't work on Vista... grr!)
I have a desktop and another one set up in my son's room. My daughter has a laptop that is always at a built in desk in my kitchen. The wife has a laptop from work she keeps at a desk in our bedroom.
I haven't had a desktop in 5 years. I've had laptops from each of my last two jobs, but bought a MacBook Pro back in 2006 for myself. I still use the MacBook Pro today although I'm kinda wanting to get a top of the line Thinkpad since my MBP is getting a little long in the tooth.
Dell 600m - 4 year old laptop. Now it sits in front of the TV hooked up to my DDR pads that I use for stepmania.
Macbook Pro - 2 months old, sits in my room
Dell Latitude D530 - Work laptop
Desktop Workstation still used for games, movies, storage as it has 1.3 TB of space.
