Do you own a $2 Dollar Bill ?

Why print them ? The last series went out in 2003 but another can be called at any time.

Such a low paper denomination begs daily usage but they are so rare that people invariably see one, pull them out
of circulation and hide them in a collector's binder.

Some are even designed against everyday use ---> colorized uncirculated version

The 2 dollar bill is the only denomintion that depicts an event on the reverse side as opposed to a building

yes, and just like all tender, i use it to buy stuff. I only kept one $2 bill, the rest i get i just use.

My grandma sends me a 2 dollar bill every year for xmas. I hang on to them and use them if things get really really tight.

I've got three of them sitting under my clear plastic desk mat. My college used to send them out as novelty gifts, to try to encourage people to donate money to the school (TJ was the school's founder).

I don't recall EVER receiving one much less using one in a purchase. I did find one in the street once.

I doubt anyone would use one the colorized versions.

Question, can they legally refuse to take such tender? I've seen places refuse large bills, even if they have the correct change. I've always thought they couldn't, but then how do so many places get away with refusing large bills?

i think there are limits as to how many coins you can use etc

Well let me say this, Clemson University Fans use them every year when we go to a bowl game. Clemson has a very good reputation for traveling well. Most fans go load up on $2 bills, put a tiger paw orange stamp on them and pay for everything during their trips using them. It lets the host city know we were there. May sound stupid but it is one of the reasons we get picked over other teams for bowls. Bowls are all about money and Clemson fans are known to bring the money.

And we do it with $2 bills Never had an issue with a place trying to refuse it as payment.

Businesses can choose to accept or refuse any form of payment they wish. If they don't want to take $10 bills and quarters, they don't have to.

I'd love for $2 bills to be regular and common in circulation. I haven't had one since I was a kid, and well, as kids, you like to spend money. Always thought of holding on to them, but I couldn't collect things for shit as a kid, and if I ever wanted to buy something and all I had was the $2 bill I swore to hold on to, well... I spent it.

But it would be great for the bills to be common, because it would be easier on the wallet and more friendly for purchases.

You can definitely have fun with $2 bills, even if you are the loser of the bet. Get the number of $2 bills needed to pay off the bet and take them to an Office Max. For a buck or so they will turn them into a gummed pad where you have to peel off the bills. The tell the winner of the bet they're not allowed to separate the bills before spending them - they have to remove them from the pad in front of the cashier.

They were never very popular. It was sort of "taboo" to have a $2 dollar bill because back in the day that is what prostitutes charged, hence the term "2 dollar whore".

WTF?

They used to be VERY popular...especially in places with horse race tracks...the minimum bet used to be $2. Growing up as a kid in the 50's and 60's, $2 bills were everywhere.
