I might be visiting hong kong for a few weeks this winter. Do I need to get any immunizations? I'm 19, live in the U.S. and have never travelled abroad.

Im traveling to Hong Kong next month too. And while I don't think we need immunizations (not 100% sure though), I would like any other advice about making the trip.

I didn't require any immunizations when I went in 2000. U.S. citizen here, never been abroad either.

Just to be on the safe side, you should probably get hepatitis shots. I'm not sure which ones, but when I first went years ago, I got my hepatitis shots.

Call your public health department. You need to make sure your previous immunizations are up to date such as tetanus which they always recommend. :)

I had this image of somebody doing tequila shooters to screw up the courage to go on vacation  Totally overlooked the more obvious meaning.

Wow quite a few people are going to HK this winter. So am I too! I bought the round trip tickets for $700 including 5 days of hotel (dont know which one, but my mom said its a pretty decent one). I'll be going there on the 23rd of Dec. But I do not think you'll need shots to enter HK, however, you can get one from your doctor easily if you want to be on the safe side.

You don't have to have 'em (as a REQUIREMENT) but Flu, hep II, and Japanese Encephalitis (used to be) recommended.

Check out www.who.org (world health organization) they have pandemic and epidemic stats, and recommended immunizations ...

Good luck
