Do you need a multiprocessor capable OS for hyper threading?

Was just wondering. XP Pro detects (2) 2.8C chips in my PC. Since XP Home doesn't support dual processors will it still show (2) CPU's if using hyper threading chips?

It will still use hyper threading, but as you stated, it does NOT support dual CPU's..

( Which i was unaware of )

Yes Winxp pro and XP home both support hyperthreading.

I still don't get it. Isn't Hyper Threading all about tricking your OS into thinking it has 2 CPU's like it shows up in my system? If XP home doesn't support dual processors how can it support Hyper Threading?

Because it natively supports Hyper Threading. You basically answered your own question..

It's "tricked"
