Wow......... don't know what i'd do with all that space. Imagine defragging that thing if you had about 350 gb of data on it.

if only 50 gigs are free in a 400gig harddrive, that's only 12.5% free. Defrag in windows needs atleast 15% to be somewhat efficient, if I remember correctly

Mm, that's even hotter than the 250GB for $140 last year from Circuit City... 400GB is absolutely preposterous, though I'm sure I could find a way to fill it (I'm already ~50% through a 250GB and my 160/60GB are 80% filled each).

I have a large collection of DVD quality (~4.3gig each) movies and I have a 160, and a 200 gig hd all full...I think this will help me keep track of them 🙂

Still cheaper than anywhere else online after tax for me. Except I already have two Maxtor DiamondMax10 300GB drives 🙁

dual 400gb drives for my dual win pvr250's........ 🙂

i have one pvr250.. now to scrounge money for the 2 drives and the extra card 🙂

hmmm ... sweet
once the price comes down to $200 or less I bay just have to pick up a couple of them (and then sell off some of my old 120 and 160gb drives)

^ ditto

I have a 160 in a SFF shuttle xpc which takes one drive; one 400 would give me some headroom.

EDIT: Ehh, I could junk the floppy and get two......Think I'll start looking for the 3 1/2" faceplate in the junk tote.

Seriously, its been years since I gave up the quaint belief that any size hard drive could be enough for me. I remember wondering how I would ever be able to fill my new 4 gig drive. 400 sounds like a good stepping stone for me.

I just wish I could find an external enclosure that I'm sure will take that thing. Most of them explicitly say 300 or less 🙁

If you're using it just for storage then you won't have to worry about defragging it. True you could partition it as mentioned or you could install your sytem files to a different harddrive, say a faster Raptor 😉
