do you name your computers?

This comes from the fact that I recently named one of my newer machines and changed the Hostname. I've named all the computers I've ever had because it took a lot of effort to put them together and I feel somewhat like a parent to them in that I spend oodles of time with upkeep and use on them. The fact is, I end up with a lot of machines I don't throw away and the names kinda stick when I browse my network at home. I mean, I think of how I would I feel if my parents named me "Child 1".

Some names I have/still use include:
Bubba
Havoc
Deimos
Tim
Pico
Persephone
Jefe
Willy the list is rather long.

So the question is, does anyone else name their machines or am I just as weird as people who look at me funny think I am?

My current system is called "Piece of sh**", since I am always saying, "You goddamn Piece of sh**". But that`s only been its name since I put WinXP on it. 🙂

My friends do:

Silver Streak
Black Beast
Ancalagon

I have a Sony VAIO laptop. It's name is simply "bitch". Among other things...

<< my computer's name is Treadstone71. A cookie for you if you know the reference >>

Is it a company?

My desktop is named after myself:

Ryan

My laptop is named Shadow, because it follows me everywhere.

Ryan

I'm noticing a pattern here.

The current system I'm using to type this is called "makeshift crap 'puter" until I feel like fixing my main computer.

It named itself WKGRP174 though..

On the network, my computer is called jpiper. Other than that, no. At my friend's office, their servers were called Floyd and Zeppelin. I thought that was cool.

At my old company I named our file server Smithers -- luckily I wasn't the only Simpsons fan 🙂

I tend to give my home machines boring descriptive names just for networking, like:
Jukey -- MP3 jukebox / web development box
Thinkpad -- my laptop
Devlor -- my development desktop PC (I'd call it "Gamblor" but that's Marge's problem not mine.)

Hmmm... Never thought of it. If I named my computer, I would probably call it...

One of Thousands.. lol

My computer isn't my baby anymore.. (see below). 😀

Apoc, Don't know why but seems like everytime I upgrade seems like its the apocalypse. I can never have a simple time with my computer; always complicated.

Actually, I guess technically my computers names are "CreepingDeath", and "dad" ... lol..
