Do you mercy-kill insects when you damage them?

Ants are amazing. Even though they're so small and have tiny brains, they have enormous amount of teamwork instincts hard-coded in them. It's neat seeing how they carry their dead out of their colonies and they form bridges to cross gaps. Some grow algae in their colonies and eat it, and milk aphids. Some even cut out pieces of leaves, place them in water, and sail downstream. Also, some ants take slaves from other ant colonies. When they fight or get hurt, they pick up their injured and bring them to safety or eat them.

I try to avoid killing things, however, I cannot STAND house flys. They always bug me at work (we have food, our door is open, so they fly in and constantly pester us).

I make sure they die quickly.
