Do you make treats/food for your pets?

I was watching the food channel when they had a show about special dog treats.

Food-wise some lady put together a raw meat mixture with 4 different types of pills as well as some sort of algae powder. That seemed crazy to put so much into pet food.

Snack wise they had a pet bakery that had a lot of pastries and cookies that really did look good. This is something i have seen on tv before.

Do you do anything special with your pet's food?
 
No, I give them Jr. bacon cheeseburgers; though M&M's and tootsie rolls are her favorite.
 
My cat gets some of the best cat food money can buy, and I always give him a bit of whatever I'm eating to keep his diet varied. I don't cook for him or make anything special.
 
This thread reminds me of one where the OP made his dog a "birthday cake" from sliced cheese & peanut butter, then had to pull it out of the dogs throat when it got stuck!

Nothing special for treats for the dogs. For convenience, we buy big boxes of "doggy cookies" - those bone shaped baked treats. Otherwise, for special treats, we just give the dogs table scraps.

Now, before the anti-table-scraps crowd responds, I'll point out that pet dogs were fed table scraps for 10,000 years - from the time they first started hanging out with humans until Purina and the other companies decided to make their fortunes putting inferior products into pet food (read the news) and pushing the "scraps are bad, mmmkay" propaganda. Of course, I'll mention when I say "table scraps", I mean table scraps of real food. I don't mean table scraps of processed foods - those arguably aren't good for humans; I don't dispute that they're not good for pets.
 
I would be glad to make special treats for Miss Kitty but she's pretty weird about food.
she eats her dry kibble,she likes fancy feast but that's about it,she doesn't eat or beg for table scraps, any canned food that has shredded meat? she'll lick off the gravy and leave the shredded meat sitting there. She won't even eat commercial cat treats like pounce.
 
My dog eats rice with chicken breast and carrots made twice a week. He also has treats made for him every week. Yeah it takes time but at least I know he's eating "real food" instead of whatever is in bags of dog food. It helps that he only weighs 15 lbs... I doubt I could do the same for a 100 lb dog.
 
I add virgin olive oil to my dogs dry food and also add a small amount of water every other time to make gravy.

The olive oil I started adding because it helps keep his skin from drying out in the winter and it also helps his black coat look all smooth and afro sheeny.

If I grill out or cook something up in the wok I'll feed him bits of filet, fish, chicken or whatever from the grill as he sits with me.
 
Sometimes I put a little soap on the rag I use to wipe dust off my pet rock, but that's extra special. I just use plain water most of the time.
 
I give my rats carrots, peas, raw corn, and bananas in addition to their staple lab blocks. They love pretty much anything edible though, regardless of whether or not its good for them.

Unfortunately, the soap residue in most soaps will actually make it attract dust. Bad pet rock owner! Don't make me call PETR on you! (People for the Ethical Treatment of Rocks)
 
The wife feeds the rat-dogs boiled rice and vegetables a couple of times per month, and once in a while, she'll boil a chicken breast and add that to the rice mix, but that's about it.

I laughed out loud at both of these...mine gets dry dog food pretty much exclusively but occasionally some soft smelly stuff. the only time treats are used is when I am learnin' them something gnew....but with Aussies excessive training is not really that necessary.
