Do you make assumptions about posters...

For example. Do you assume people with the Crab avatar are Australian (blame Dug777) or convicted felons? Do you assume people with the computer avatar have jobs in the tech field or have never been laid? Do you assume people with black avatars post in ebonics or love fried chicken (I know I do) and watermelon? How about the "hippi" avatar? Do you assume they're dirty and smoke pot all the time. Does "officeguy6" scream to you that, in spite of his inability to dance and his social awkwardness (especially around non-whites), he's college educated, and god damnit if you're not going to remember it! And is that guy with the Grinch avatar really a total dick?

ATOT Avatar-ists unite!

*Inspired by some guy with the "execguy" avatar who was complaining that the po-po is out to harasses him and everyone else... something I found hilariously ironic... and then kind of sad about, because maybe George Bush really does hate black people.* 🙁 *Also inspired by that Dave Chappelle sketch where he does the Race Pixie that tries to get people to act in a manner that is stereotypical of their race.*

Disclaimer: I'm not a racist. I'm just an average guy who isn't afraid to laugh at stereotypes, primarily because I understand that they're absurd and hardly reflect on the majority of the people they're targeted at. They are only perpetuated because when we finally see someone that fits the stereotype it stands out SO STRONGLY that we remember that one person more than the hundred others we knew before them. You only become a racist when you let stereotypes dictate your actions towards the people around you. Be stronger than that. This has been a public service announcement.

FLAME ON!

No, I discriminate by the name underneath the avatar.

Does yours mean you are a fisherman?

Or a genetically engineered super trout. We better hope he's the only one of his kind, otherwise he'll reproduce... and then we're fvcked.

THAT'S RACIST!11!111!!1!1!

lol

And ya, it was your post. I didn't want to make any assumptions, so I kept my mouth shut and made this thread instead. I just thought it was kind of amusing (not the police thing itself 😛).

Edit: But that kind of proves my point I think.

Sometimes, yes. The hippie avatar and the asian avatars I've associated with several people, but that might be it.

I assume that people with human face avatars look like their avatar... psychologists? Do people automatically pick faces like their own?

Hmmm... I recognize people a lot quicker by their avatars... I find it annoying when two frequent posters have the same avatar and I have to slow down to think.
