I have been told by some people i respect that when looking at women to see if they make good wives is to look at their mothers. Since that is what they will be like in the future.

I just want to know what you guys think about this, and if you take it into consideration when you are dating them.

Now im only 17 so im not really interested in getting married right now, but its an interesting topic and i want to some what some of my "peers" think about it, as opposed to my parents.

in many cases there will be similarities just because they live and grow up together in most cases. In some cases, they do not like the way ther mother acts and wishes to change all that for their future. If they are really determined, they can be more of their own person. If they don't, you'll find many similarites with their mother. Those are my observations thus far :)

That might work in some instances, but I wouldn't put much weight on it. Not everyone turns out like their parents.

A lot of em end up looking like their mom though. If the mom's a MILF then it's always a plus.

Well you could consider that girl a potential investment for the future, if you're a gambling man.

My uncle's daughters resemble, body type, coloring, nose, etc. him more than their mother.

i check the mom out for attractiveness and personality. most of us will become our parents in one form or another, it's only a matter of time.

I believe if you can notice strong similarities between the mother and daughter already, then it is wise to take a good long look at the mother.

If they seem nothing alike, then they will most likely remain that way.

Nope. My girlfriend is adopted.
i don't see how that makes a difference, as long as she was adopted early. she would still turn out like her mother someways in her personality, but most important her values.

im not saying daughters are clones of their mothers. but they will inherit many traits from them. values, morals...

my mom has a monthly discussion group with a bunch of other moms, and i do other stuff that night. leave them alone to talk about whatever... but i see some of the moms and i say to myself "they would make great wives"
now doesn't it follow that a great wife/mother would turn out great children?

from what i read daughters look at their dad to see what a husband should be like. they look at their mom to see what a wife should be like. if they have a lousy mother i still think they can be a great wife and mother, but they will have to learn elsewhere than from their parents.
if they have a wonderful mother then hopefully they will learn from her.

She is the exact opposite of her adoptive mom.

most of the girls either end like their mothers or exacly the opposite (character-wise).
it depends on the relationship they have with their mothers. if they get along fine the probability is high that they end very similar (of course it depends how much the father was involved raising them, but mostly mom does the work).

with those who don't like their mothers at all they'll try to rebel and become (they wish) the opposite. if that is the case they will hate themselfs when they have children and realize, that they just act like their mom did. (that's entertaining if you are not the husband;) )

but if (very scarse probability) they are indipendant personalities have fun exploring their character.

im not necassarily talking about their personality, interests, habits.

i don't know how wise it would be to marry someone who didn't have a good relationship with their parents. if their parents were real jerks and the girl had broken away from that then it doesn't matter.

but i would think that if the girl had a good relationship with her parents, and her mom is a good person, im not saying you should marry her because of that, but sort of a small plus.

i dunno. i haven't dated at all so i speak from no life experiences. :)
