I have been told by some people i respect that when looking at women to see if they make good wives is to look at their mothers. Since that is what they will be like in the future.

I just want to know what you guys think about this, and if you take it into consideration when you are dating them.

Now im only 17 so im not really interested in getting married right now, but its an interesting topic and i want to some what some of my "peers" think about it, as opposed to my parents.

It sounds to me like you've an Oedipal complex. 😉

Similar thing... my fiancé has a sister who is nearing 40 years old and this women is HOT!! TOTAL MILF. I have seen pics of her when she was younger and it looks just like my fiancé does now... so I got that to look forward too.

as a female, i was always told to look at the way a guy treats his mother to see if he's good for you or not. no wonder.

anyhow, i'm nothing like my mother in terms of personality. we are completely opposite. physically, i look a tad like her. i inherited her chin, big feet, and great skin. i'm very maternal, have a great sense of humour...whereas she has trouble showing affection and doesn't think anything is funny--except seinfeld, oddly enough, which is my fave show.

our mutual interests are eating good food and talking about our whacko extended family, but if a guy looked to my mother in order to scope things out, he'd be way off. 😀

this obviously cannot be used for every person. nothing can. but just generally.

btw thanks for all the answers so far.

That's what I've always looked to, as well, and in my experience, the girls who had crappy, stormy relationships with their mother (both parents, for that matter) tended to bring that same dynamic into the relationship.

i would think that is a good general rule.

maybe they don't seem like their fathers now, but eventually i would think most guys turn out similar to their dads.
its just the way it is. who is the most importan man in a boys life? should be his father.
