Do you lock the pedestrian door to your garage?

This really only applies to houses with an attached garage that have a door that connects to the interior of the house.

Do you lock that door?

When I was growing up, we did not. My wife's family did, which, of course, means we do now, too.

I could, but if they get into the garage, which would have to be through the garage door, that door into the house from the garage isn't going to give much resistance

You could hear the perps break into the house through said door.

They could get the garage door up with a remote scanner. I have read that stills happens.

I didn't mean to imply that the garage door was impenetrable, far from it in fact.
You could kick that door open from the garage probably. Might buy a few more seconds though

Absolutely I do now after I was broken into at night because I forgot to shut the garage door.

My garage door lets out a loud squeak is it settles into it's open position and the door from the garage into the house is a standard exterior door with a deadbolt. I lock that door when I'm not home/asleep.

In the houses of vintage 30's and 40's when I grew up, the garage doors from the house were light hollow core doors with only knob locks if that. Most of the time, not only was the roll up garage door unlocked, it was open. Times have definitely changed for the worse in regards to home security but, most houses still only have hollow core doors leading to the garage and knob locks. In any case, I only lock it when there are 'smalls' about.

I lock every door. When I lived with my parents, we lived in a very safe town... yet we were still robbed one afternoon - they broke the glass on a sliding door. You're never safe - I don't know how people can leave their doors unlocked.

Code is it must be a metal door since it's technically an exterior door. Agree that they don't put a proper lock on it. I've got a dead bolt on mine now.

Not living in a house with an interior door to the garage, but when I did, I would lock it at night.

Because even if you lock your doors, they can break in. Maybe by breaking the glass on a sliding door or something.

I never lock mine. It's convenient, I can get into the house without my keys. I work from home, so it's not often that no one is at the house for long periods of time anyway.

Not unless we're going out of town. Everything else, to get to that door, is already locked.

That code is for new construction. There are millions of houses without a metal door there.

My wife usually locks it at night even though our side door has a good quality deadbolt lock (so does the door in question though). Anyway, it's just a little extra precaution I guess. I've gotten into the habit now too thanks to her.

The only time external doors in my house are unlocked are when I'm passing through them or when I'm going to spend a brief bit of time outside the house.

If I remember to, I do.

The older I get the more likely I'll leave the garage door open through the night by mistake so I've been more and more making a point to lock the passthrough door.

If they can get into my garage, they can get into my house easily. If you don't lock the side door, why lock any at all?
