My wife's family (mom and two sisters) lives within 5 mins of us. My family all live in the bay area, about 2 hrs away. It's ok for me because I can actually stand my in laws, even though they have a crap load of kids. But for my wife, she gets annoyed pretty often being so close. I'm just the right distance from my family, close enough in case SHTF of just want to do a weekend visit. I have a step son and the court order says we can't move out of county without them going back to court. We're thinking of moving to either the Sac area or SoCal when my step son graduates.

My Mom lives in Florida as do my brother and my sister (different cities) and my in-laws all live in the Los Angeles area which is about 90 miles from where my wife and I live. We have one son who lives with us. He is 10.

I live near my immediate family (my parents live 2 towns over, and my sister lives just down the block from them)

but not near my extended family... my dad's family is all up in New Hampshire/Quebec and my mom's family is spread out all over the place (my two uncles live on opposite ends of the state, one cousin is in LA, and the other is in Finland)

My sister lives a bit under 200kms away. I've no other family in a ~7000km radius.

My aunt and her 2 sons are about 15 miles away

My grandparents on dad's side are about 30 miles away

Another aunt and uncle and cousin are about 40 miles away.
My fiance's dad is about 80 miles away
My uncle John (mom's lil bro) is about 225 miles away
My grandmother on my mom's side is about 225 miles away.

Most of the family is pretty close.

I currently reside in Houston. All my family lives in SoCal, Portland (OR), or Seattle and Puget Sound. My best friends live in the Bay Area, so I'm drawing a compromise and moving to the Bay Area next winter.
