Do you live in the South

From Texas, now in north Alabama.
Alabama here. Well, Huntsville. There are ways in which we're very much part of the Deep South along with the rest of the state and ways in which we're not really representative of the South at all.
In Bama...moved down from super liberal and tax-happy CT.

Yes, AL fits most sterotypes...but Huntsville does not. i think this city is towards the top of the list for most engineers and PhD's....or something like that.

<edit> just posted after ewdotson. Yes, there's some Deep South stuff here in Huntsville too
Yeah Madison specifically has one of the highest concentration of PhD's in the nation., also votes opposite of the rest of the state in most ways. But yeah you see some crazy stuff there too. Now going to college in Auburn and even being a college town you see some really stereotypical 'southern' stuff around, and not usually in a good way.

"The war ended 90 years ago!"

Damn the loony toons are old. 😱
Yosemite Sam must be pretty old if he supposedly got those orders from General Lee while the war was still on.

He doesn't sound very southern. "Yosemite" implies that he's from California. I think he was supposed to be a gold prospector or an outlaw.

WNC is nice but there aren’t many engineering jobs in my field. 🙁

East TN is probably better than WNc from a tax/col aspect though.

I agree, but we got the beer. In the time I have been here, Asheville area has went from like breweries to over 40.

As long as you stay within 35 miles of the Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico, Florida is not the South. Once you venture further toward the interior, you may as well bring your banjo and your best pig squeal voice.

tbh when i'm getting closer to retirement, i may consider TN. it's so much warmer than where I'm at during much of the winter. and most of the family who hate the south will probably be gone.

Chattanooga is a pretty cool town imo. Just the right size, lots of outdoor activities, close enough to all sorts of things.
