I live in excess by the standards of most of the world, I live very frugally by American standards.

no but I'm sure the liberal moochers and parasites that feed of my confiscated income live high on the obama hawg.

Me and the lady do very well for our age for not being just handed oney from our parents. I would say that because we have no children, we get to be selfish and live a life-style that not everyone gets to. Honestly even with what we make sometimes it feels like it isn't enough.

We live in a premium portion of a premium county, and have the toys we want to have, the meals we want to have, and the bar tabs we want to have. Financing is not an option, because I know anyone who can sign on the dotted line can have any toy they want as well.

I know all that can change in my 30s when a kiddo pops out....but until then.....I will keep my Diamond status @ the Ceasar's properties in Vegas, and spend way too much on myself.

Edit: In fact this thread made me feel like playing my book's casino, where I just won $1200. It clears on Sundays @ Midnight, so perfect timing! Thanks OP!

By your definition, not at all.
But, in reality, I do live in excess.

I have a car, I have electricity, I have plumbing. I have a house with almost 1000 sq feet for just me and my fiance and our cats. I eat out for lunch 4 days per week. I eat out for dinner a couple times per week. I have plural computers in my house, a dedicated theater room in the basement with multiple tiers of seating and a 106 inch screen. I have eyefinity setup with three monitors, and crossfire with 2 video cards to drive it. I own multiple frying pans. I have a dishwasher, and a microwave. Many of these may not seem like "excess" to most of us, but, compared to parts of the world, my lifestyle could be considered rather extravagant. I try not to take that for granted.

I eat out too often and spend too much on alcohol but I think that is fairly common in Canada. I live in a small apartment and don't need to drive, so I consider myself pretty low key. My biggest purchases are usually computer parts or smartphone. More recently my Dell 27" screen and 7970 GPU, spoiled myself rotten. Why not eh?

Define "in excess" further. I don't think I do but some may disagree. I think living in excess means throwing money away needlessly. Living a luxurious lifestyle isn't in excess. Buying a brand new car so you can wreck it with your buddies or buying a couple $600 bottles of Grey Goose at a night club is excessive.

Question: do you love INXS? For my money it doesn't get better than Suicide Blonde.

I just spent about $8K on TV/Home Theater stuff, with two Macs to go along with it, does that count?

I guess I do pretty well and I have way more than I need, my kids are pretty much set up, etc. but...
The guy across the lake from me has a lot more. I want to be like him!

I do well but I work for it. Hard to spend too much on yourself when youve got young kids though
