I'm talking about non-commercial stations.

I have a very old Sangeen countertop radio that I really like. But it came out back when 802.11g was the state of the art in home wifi. The software still works though. You gotta backward compatibility.

A lot of commercial stations "broadcast" on the web but that's mainly if you live in one part of the country and want to listen to a station a thousand miles away. I'm pretty sure that's what I heart Radio is.

I was searching for goth stations a few days ago. Found about a dozen just from looking at the names. Also picked up an EDM station that I've been listening to.

The closest I get is SiriusXM nowadays. I used to listen to a few Live365 channels occasionally, but that's more than a decade ago.

The OnDemand shows on SXM keep me subscribing:
Party 360
Dark Wave
Don't Stop Rappin by Too Short
CaliRoots Radio
Billy Idol Live Transmission

Anything I should be listening to?

No recommendations just yet. I don't listen very often but I do like the EDM station. Very mellow. I'll try to make a note of it next time.

I see you have a dark wave station listed. That seems to be a synonym for goth. It's kind of interesting how music labels evolve. Goth has sort of split into a variety of versions - industrial, death metal, pop, etc.

The Sangean only has 10 presets per mode (net, fm, etc). And there are soooo many stations in each genre. It's a bit overwhelming.

Although it's paid, Tidal's streaming service just made it's top tier service the same price as it's cd quality service ($10.99 a month). I was using amazon prime music unlimited and its free prime service, but since they knee-capped their free service I've been looking for an alternative. https://tidal.com/

I used to listen to Tunein radio but many of the good stations became paid and they seem to have a bunch of commercials.

Yup. Ads are the bane of radio. I even lost interest in the college stations. First, there's no consistency. Then, since the stations tend to refresh their staff every year, you can get a lot of very chatty djs.

That's what I love about net radio - no djs, as least on the non-commercial stations and pretty decent consistency within genres.

80's Dark Wave - I wouldn't classify it as Goth but Wikipedia does make a note it has some "gothic rock" influences.
Bauhaus
Siouxise
Joy Division
Clan of Xymox
Sisters of Mercy
Killing Joke
The Mission

I would consider SoM as the archetypal goth band. But they're also my all time favorite. Lucretia, This Corrosion, Mother Russia - mmmm. I'm more or less familiar with the others. Xymox and Bauhaus I recall as pretty mellow but I might be misremembering. For the rest, I'm only familiar with their top 40 fare so I don't know how representative that is. I remember buying the Dire Straits album and Sultans of Swing was completely unlike anything else on the album.

The Mission is a weird one. I think I got one of their albums by mistaking them for someone else. Pretty much anything on 4AD was at least listenable. Also a Wax Trax. Fan.

I don't drive enough to pay for SiriusXM any more, but TuneIn has a free station that plays pretty much the same stuff as BPM:
