I had a Xonar D2X which I sold to a member on here. I've regretted it ever since.

The price tag is hard to swallow when the item is sitting in your cart waiting for you to click the "Checkout Now" button, but when you get it installed and are using, at the least, with a decent quality headset and/or surround sound, that sticker shock quickly fades.

I use a Logitech z5500 for surround and Sennheiser HD595's when I need to keep quiet. But I was looking for a dedicated gaming headset and was curious about the Senn 350 or 360's myself.

You make me want to pull the trigger on the Xonars soo bad..

I love my Razer Megalodon 7.1 USB with a pod as the amp and changing volume sounds of different channels.

5 speakers in each cone, before this I used Razer Barracuda 5.1 which connected to my audio card. This Megalodon doesnt need a sound card,, its its own sound card with the pod usb connection. I can hear people behind me next to me away in the corner,, its great, Razer pownz in gaming products..

I went with a more old school approach. Asus Xonar DX, JVC HA-RX700 headphones, and Zalman clip on mic. The sound is freakin' awesome....like that Memorex commercial!

The asus xonar d2x was the best sound card I ever used in my pc. Coupled with my logitech z5500's using optical it sounded fantastic. The optical port died and asus couldn't repair it right so I got another x-fi. Anyway for headsets have you looked at the tritton technology stuff. I've got one of their dolby digital headsets and you can actually hear stuff positionally although it's not as good as well placed speakers around you and they aren't cheap.
