magazines don't count... just books... textbooks, novels...

i'm reading this sociology book and i just realized how much i hate reading right now :frown:

Not really. I am trying to read my English book and I have just a few pages left but I'm here posting. Then I have another few hundred or so pages of History :(

I love reading. I go through phases though. I'll not read anything for like a month and then I'll pound through a bunch of books for a month or so.

what's wrong with reading? I can guarantee you, if you read all the dicksons' book before 8th grade, sat verbal will be a piece of cake to you ;)

reading is fun!!! only if I have the time :(

when it comes to reading, my mindset is, "okay, only 10 more damn pages till i'm done," rather than, "oooh i can't wait to get to the next page! my heart is just pounding! :heart:"

I am a "whinny bitch" when it comes to books, in that I am picky as hell. Up front, I will pick a bunch of books up at the Library and barely read them..


Once I find one of thsoe "gems," I will NOT put it down...:D

BNW is looking to be one of those Gems....Huxley's Foward in the 1957 edition is quite enlightening to put it lightly, as he prepares you to see the upcoming flaws in his book of flaws.

Yes, I enjoy reading very much. I've already read Sirens of Titan and I'm now re-reading Slaughterhouse Five which I read in my english litterature class. I also plan on finishing the the Dune prequels written by Frank Herbert's son Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson before school starts. :)

yes, i love this book so much that I read it over and over. its called "ATOT - Thousand reasons to delay work and procrastinate, while learning hundreds of totally useless facts."

I just read the Sirens of Titan a week or two ago. I love to read as much as I love wine. :heart::wine:

The only thing I read anymore is stuff on teh intarweb (mostly ATOT). I used to prefer reading to almost anything else but alas, I guess I've grown out of that...

I have several books that I read after new year every year. Oh well, I need a couple days off work.

Reading give ya vicarious experiences. Love it!

I love to read. Right now I am working through Robert Heinlein's collection.

Everyone here should at least try to read "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" or "Stranger in a Strange Land".

And Huxley's "Brave New World", Orwell's "1984".

Reading is my pastime, I may turn on the TV one or two days a week (thanks, TIVO), but I read every day.

edit: Textbooks do suck, though. Actually, one of the things I think is always true is anything you are forced to read sucks. I recommend "1984", but couldn't finish it in college when it was assigned reading. You should also read Ayn Rand's " Anthem". It's much shorter and easier to digest than some of her other works (250pgs vs 750pgs for "Atlas Shrugged").

I don't like reading fiction. At all. I don't care about some rich British guy's struggle to be accepted, or about a baseball field in the middle of nowhere that really has nothing to do with baseball.

I like my books direct and to the point. :)

Information is usually cool. Presentation usually sucks.

As a young child I loved to read. Even so, I hadn't seriously read novels since middle school. But then last summer I got into (you guessed it!):

The Wheel Of Time!

blah blah blah about how great it is.
blah blah blah about how everybody should read it.
blah blah blah the first book is The Eye of The World.

Now, go read and enjoy!

I would highly suggest that if you haven't you should read the peoples history by Howard Zinn......
or any Gramsci or Wallerstein if you really care about tommorrow or today or both maybe even......

I like to digest books. I only retain the nutrients, and leave the rest in the crapper.
