Smallish (20-40 lbs) gets my vote

One day, RossWIFE and I would like to have a Jack Russell Terrier and Boston Terrier, great dogs!

Medium sized dogs. But always have had bad luck house training them. They always find a secret place to dump.:disgust: Do they make a dog that will crap in a box like a kat? Something for geneticist to work on...

So if they had sex you could in theory get a German shepperd (purebreed) and a Lab-rot (mutt). Maybe my science is off but hey it could happen.

anywhere from 20-80lb dogs are cool. Nothing too small, cuz they get yippy. My friend had a black lab that was the most mellow, awesome dog to hang out with, he was about 85lbs.

I like Large dogs (and it seems most do). Golden Retrievers, labs, etc.

But the only problem is that they dont' live as long. :(

Small dogs and cats are worthless to me. An animal that you spend money on to feed, shelter, and care for that doesn't serve a practical purpose is worthless. For this reason i hate cats. Small dogs do provide companionship, and will bark incessantly at a perceived aggressor, but will run behind your leg as soon as that perceived aggressor comes near to you. Big dogs don't, they defend you, and therein lies the value to me. If i'm going to invest love, money, and time into this creature, it better give me some protection AND companionship.

I absolutely love my Jack Rusell Terrier. Small enough to make a nice house pet, and so cute too!!!

And if it does bark you could always beat it over the head with the stock of a loaded shotgun. ;)

EDIT: See this thread.

I like mid-sized to big dogs best.
our 2 dogs now are about 50 lbs each... they are average size dogs i guess.

our last 2 dogs were well over 100 lbs each (husky/german shepherd mix) and i love the size.

bigger dogs rule!!

dogs that are as small as a cat would surely lose in a scrap...
small = wimpy!! :D

(I do not make my dogs fight they are very gentle)
just a reason to base my opinion... heh

EDIT: See this thread.

Better yet, he could have neighbors that have a Basenji, the only barkless dog.

Or as a third option, you could kidnap the dog like Elaine in that Seinfeld episode.

Love the large, furry dogs. Yeti, my female Pyr, is the best dog I've ever had.

I don't like the small, shivery dogs. Any dog that has to wear a sweater in cold weather is useless, IMO.

My dog just rarely goes outside when it is cold.

I'm a pansy cat person (like Zimmervolt!).

Let's see who wins....
----------------
Cleanliness-

Dog: Craps wherever, drools on everything, rolls around in its own, oozing filth. Needs bath.
Cat: Craps in one place, cleans self. Never needs bath. Depending on the kind, leaves hair around.

Winner: Cat
--
Noise-

Dog: Barking.
Cat: Meowing.

Winner: Cat
--
Fun-

Dog: Fetching, running, playing
Cat: Goes insane over anything that moves

Winner: Tie
--
Lawsuit Liability-

Dog: Jumps over fence, eats annoying neighborhood kid.
Cat: Wallows in indifference.

Winner: Cat, but partial credit to dog for eating that little brat.
--
Feces Consumption-

Dog: Constant
Cat: Zero

Winner: Cat

--
Final Score

Cat: 5
Dog: 1

Cat wins!

I would have ordered the sizes as minuscule (<15lbs), small (<30), medium (<50), large (<80), and extra huge (>80); perhaps my perspective is skewed by owning a "medium" sized dog. ;)

Shetland Sheepdogs are great! :D

I'm a cat person, typically, but my grandparents have had Australian Shepherds for years and they are great dogs.

Any dog that 'yips' for a bark needs to be made extinct ;)

A 100+ lbs pup might be a bit overkill ;)

But I like large dogs better than small ones. I dislike the tiny ones, bred to be disfigured and all. Those tend to have crappy owners and therefor turn out as aggressive little bastards.

I like cats too btw.
